Hi, I currently have a 4080oc, i9 12900ks, would 850watts be good enough?

Here's how I figure it out. You take 850 - 20% = 680w total load. You only want to push your power supply to 80% of it's capabilities. 4080 can be up to 400w, your CPU is up to 150w - so you're at 550w. What else do you have in your system? Fans don't draw much. Do you have any hard drives or are they NVMe? To me, you have an additional 130w of room. 850w sounds like you'll be okay.

Yikes.. I found this one on Kijiji (the Canadian Craigslist). I've only heard of one other that my buddy owned last year but has since sold. I bought it and didn't use it for 6-8 months because I hadn't created my loop yet. Good luck. I'd sell you mine, but it's a collectors item at this point ;)

if the chipset only supports pcie 3.0, does that not also mean that the expansion card will be limited to 3.0 as well?

That is a VERY good question. I don't know. My assumption would be that because the PCI Express x16 slots are PCI Express 4.0 and handled by the CPU, that any expansion card will also work at PCI Express 4.0 speeds. I will have to test this with a PCI Express 4.0 NVMe drive once I get the system online. I'm glad you brought this up and will definitely look into it. Thank you!

im not a fan of vertical mounting and think it will look just fine =) even tho i prefer smaller form

Awww, thanks for the comment. The more I sit with it, the more I'm okay with the horizontal mounting. I think once I get the metal tubes in place, the build will really start to come together. Next step - order fittings!! :)
