The flexseal paint is awesome. My nephew sealed his 12 foot aluminum riveted boat with the stuff, and not a single drop of water has leaked into the boat since. It has been years since he did it. Before he did it we had to pump the water every half an hour which fast became tedious especially when the fish were biting. He applied the paint in 50 degree wet weather too. I told him that it would never work. The next day we took the boat out and he was smiling like a possum eating chit off a wire brush.

My dad was a boat builder, and he has had a set of them since they first came out. With old wood boats, they will eventually need to have all the fasteners replaced. Most of the time, electrolysis has eaten away the head of the fasteners. Before we got the speedout, we would have to use vice grips to remove them. Unfortunately, the slow process of using vice grips is still the only option.

Along with the other commentor, the fact that you had the metal tape out as far as you did, LOWERED IT TO YOUR LEVEL STRAIGHT OUT, then back to the ceiling without it kinking and folding is literally the most impressive thing on KZbin right now. Mine folds if 2 feet are extended just to drive me insane - that was like 12 feet of tape - *straight out*!! That was awesome-sauce, dude. John - do you remember seeing the old commercial for super glue where the construction worker glues the top of his hard hat to a an i-beam and it holds him off the ground? I mean, he has to hold the hard hat of course, but it holds his weight with like a 4 inch wood block glued to the I-beam! Used to love that one as a kid.

My experience with speed outs is that they don't work in real life applications, usually when your screw head is stripped, it means your screw is stuck, either into a very hard wood, rusted, or somehting like that, you know, hard to get out basically. As you can see the stripped screws here in the video were so loose they tightened up when he used the drilling side of the speed outs. Only reason it worked, and funny enough the only screw that gave a little bit of trouble seemed to be the one that was kind of stuck in there, didn't twist at all when drilling it unlike all the other ones.

I didn't know how much I wanted to see if the Flex Tape actually worked for the hole in the bucket. I was always skeptical when I saw those commercials, and I have not thought about it in many years. However, there is another thing I remember about Flex Tape, and I'd like to see you test it. I remember him cutting a boat in half, taping it back together, putting a motor on it, and it worked. I always thought the forces it would experience in use would cause the tape to fail. I also assumed, and still do, that it is very temporary. A time lapse of the tape over the hole in the bucket should be great because I'm curious how long it would take for a leak to develop and all the water to empty out. I checked KZbin for a link to the boat video and found this. It's even more extreme than I remember. If you go to 1:20 in the video linked below you'll see they built a metal frame and covered it entirely with Flex Tape. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJC5dJ17aZ57q5Ysi=HSq_4V-LE3GThWIh I suspect it's one of two things. It's either editing, and underneath all that Flex Tape is an actual boat frame rather than just a metal frame. Otherwise, it is real, and it does work, but they're once again using editing to hide the leaks. They show us about 20 seconds of video with the boat in use, but the cuts would allow them to swap the boat for a real one covered in tape and/or empty the water accumulating in the boat. The camera angles never give us a look at where the water would be accumulating in the boat either.

Thought it was cheesy at first but I have to say I find myself reaching for it a lot. Not only for being able to quickly find the right fit, but you can also use it as a nut driver, or do a sort of half turn as a wrench while straightening out the handle mid-motion when there's an obstruction to deal with (bolt up against a wall etc.). For under $20 it's crazy handy to have around.

The gator grip is primarily practical for rounded off bolts. Wouldnt use it on good bolts tho.

I’ve used a gator grip socket in a pinch. I went and bought one specifically to solve a lost key for a bicycle hub lock issue. The nut is a strange convex cap with weird tooling in it to fit the “keys”. The gator grip is basically made exactly for doing what I needed it for in this circumstance, but I’ve never used one for anything g else !😂

The Speedout works great as long as you know how to do it properly. I've been able to get every single stripped screw out I've come across with it

Never without my fresh Speed Out kit. IM definitely not an “As Seen On TV” buyer type. But in those times you’re dealing with soft junk metal screws that strip out WAY too easily, the Speed Out bits are a life saver. 👍🏻😎👍🏻

I have a 90's dif version of the tiger wrench. Has saved me a bunch not having to crawl out from under car to get a diff size on oil changes etc. Also a go to in getting into tight spaces. Not an everyday tool but great to keep in your most common used tool caddy or drawer.

My dad, brother, and I absolutely covered the bottom of our old aluminium boat in Flex Paste. It’s basically paint. We used to boat for 30 minutes and have 6in of water in the bottom. Now it stays bone dry for several hours! Flex products are the real deal.

I usually get these types of things for Christmas from family. I have the tiger wrench, but it's a different brand, and I've used it multiple times. It deserves a spot in the toolbox. I have the gator grip, and it stays because at some point, I'm going to find a use for it ..someday.. I just know it. The stripped screw tap broke on first use. I've used flex tape and caulk and have been satisfied with the performance.

The gator grip works, kinda. I live in the south, so we get rust. Rust kills this thing quickly.

I will say that the universal socket is absolute magic for taking off partially/mostly rounded bolts. I have used it multiple times when a bolt head is just about impossible to grab even with vise grips with no issues

I received a type of speed out screw remover set, I believe it was called "The GRRRiiper" (LoL) (I'd have to go out to my tool box to check) and the Gator Grip socket, which came with it's own pouch, way back in the early 90's. I still have them both and they both work great. If I remember, I'll email you a picture of them John. Great video and God bless.

RTFI!!! The best part of the Speedout is the REVERSE flute drill bit. If properly used, most fasteners come out while you are drilling the hole. …unlike EZ Outs that drive the screw further in when drilling.

On the screw extractors, you're supposed to perform both operations with the drill in reverse (so you don't have to switch back and forth). Take a look at the cutting edge on the drill portion -- it's left handed...

I have the Tiger Wrench and have for a while now. It actually comes in handy quite a bit. I keep it in my shed where I do not keep many tools for when I need to loosen or tighten a bolt. The thing works real good, for $16 ha.

Both ends of the Speedouts are left-handed. The drill is reversed as well, so you don't drive the screw deeper into the material when you drill it out.

5:40 I have one of these. Pros: Can handle multiple nut/bolt sizes. Can be used in olace of deep sockets. Cons: The pivot often causes problems whereas ratchet with deep sockets and open end wrenches are much better.

When I was a mechanic, on rain days, we would go to the shop of commercial companies that didn't work on rain days (roofers etc) and do mass oil changes. I would take that spinning wrench and an strap wrench and do 12 different vehicles.
