Thank you John - from OPGAR advice to salary negotiations, it was super helpful as I navigated my phone, loop & final offer. Came upon your videos about 4 weeks ago & they became my road map & provided a level of comfort/confidence. Made a couple of boo-boos, but your video on how to recover after revealing a number got me back on course. Rec’d my final offer couple days ago w/ a total CP north of $320k & a hefty sign-on. Much appreciated for providing this content.

Simply asking doesn't mean the recuiter will immediatly say yes. This isn't even a script. There is going to be some back and forth. A better template would've laid out the types of responses expected from recruiters and how we can stay firm in our ask.

Thank you so much for this detailed insight . So i am in a tricky situation. My amazon loop interview got over at last Thursday. I got a call from a recruiter stating “congratulations team has very positive feed back for you. We are intended to hire you but now we dont have a role. We will give you a letter if intent. You dont have to reloop or something but u gotta wait until we find a home for you” . Now that was really kinda tough pill to swallow. I donno what an intent letter is. Does it talk about salary etc. ? Could you please help How to deal with it? If the intent letter has any numbers can I negotiate or should i wait until an actual offer?
@aliwesker4 ай бұрын
that means you will be in the pickle, this is one of the times that you can take the letter of intent and use it as leverage for other negotiations. you wouldnt know the offer. no one knows the exact line.

Every job offer I’ve ever gotten I’ve negotiated successfully for a higher salary or hourly if it was a contract position. I personally have always negotiated from a position of an excitement for the position, thankfulness for the offer, a reason for my counter-offer, and a willingness to meet in the middle. It hasn’t failed me yet.

Does Amazon allow weighting compensation more on the salary side? for example, if they say your comp will be $250k with $175k salary. would they be open to a counter of $250k comp with $200k salary? thanks

Hey John, thanks for such a great video! What if you have a competing offer that is lower than the other company you are reaching out to? (Ex: you're reaching out to Oracle to request a higher salary & you have offers that are lower from Microsoft & Oracle). Should you still mention it in that case & how?
@chiranjitmitra13842 жыл бұрын
Its so unsettling how this dance with the recruiter works. I've cleared the loops and the whole 9 yards, and now the recruiter low balled me. I pointed it out and showed my competing offer. His response, "I think you should go to the other organization, perhaps work a few more years and then perhaps you can be back". sigh...

Unfortunately I’ve listed a number in the assessment attachment for expected salary and i realized i should not have done that. Sr. Tam role. I meet with the recruiter for the next step soon, what do i do?

my situation is similar.. what do you do when you have listed a number in application form and 1st interview round, but after hearing about the job duties, you would like more?
@hussla289 ай бұрын
@@stratosssify it doesn’t really matter, if you get selected you can negotiate that afterwards

Thanks John for your Amazing work. I have a question if a candidate has the offer but compensation is very less and candidate don't want to move forward as recruiter says we have limited budget. Can the candidate be considered for other opportunities wit same skill set and better salary, Can the candidate ask the recruiter to put him to the pool for other opportunities.

Very nice template. I'd account for tax rates for the specific location as well. Do you think it's a good addition? In many places such as Europe for example it's excruciating.

Don't think it's necessary to go into things like inflation, stocks etc., they're things that everyone deals with. I think you want to focus on what makes sense for your current financial situation, given the market, the scope of work and maybe your current position.

I could use some guidance myself as I recently got an offer from a smaller database tech company for an entry level role. Unfortunately this is 20% lower than my current base salary comp. I'm wondering if it's possible to negotiate a 40% increase in their initial proposed base salary or if that's not feasible - especially given the new job would be a totally different department though still within the tech industry. Nevertheless very helpful video and much appreciated!

"I need to be paid more because the stock market isn't doing what I want" is the most BS reason I've ever heard, and I've heard a few. I wouldn't expect my prospective employer to shoulder other income shortfalls I am undergoing and neither should anyone else. imagine you tried to negotiate a new salary in the same company and used that as a reason.. Fricking laughable.
