I have this table saw and I like it. You know the yellow circle on the table top. Get a steel ruler and align it with the blade on the left hand side then draw a line onto the yellow dot. Then do the right hand side. then you have two parallel lines on the yellow circle that denote to the kerf of your blade. This is really useful when cross cutting using or cutting out rebates. Trust me and do this, you wont regret it!

Nice little review of this saw John. As an educator I am particularly pleased that you kept the guard on. I saw a negative comment below regarding kick back below, just attach an adjustable piece to the fence when ripping solid timber which as H.S.E. regs state should not go past the gullet of the blade at bench level and always use a push stick of at around 450mm long as your hand should never be closer than 300mm to the blade. That in itself will save all the money needed to buy a sawstop. I think as you say all tools will never work accurately straight out of the box and will always need a little tinkering over time. Great video keep making them as I am enjoying your journey in woodwork.

I retrofit a delta t3 fence on this saw. got the fence for a great price. could rig something up to make the back of the fence lock with the front, in my experience though, front lock is beyond sufficient and super square.

Got one recently brand new and i love it! What I don't love is the unprecise adjustments of the measurements that you have to double check every time there's adjustment, which is something bosch SHOULD have accounted for in their design for such an expensive table saw!

Doesn’t a cross cut sled mitigate the issues with the fence? I agree with you that they could have picked a different fence design that is reproducible and consistently good without effort btw.

I find that if I put some slight forward pressure on the fence locking lever whilst locking it I always get the fence to lock parallel with the blade.

Hey John, I've had the same saw for a few years now. Lovely powerful and quiet motor. I use and happily recommend CMT blades, I get them from a family business up in Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow - called Jacksons; no affiliation whatsoever, just helpful people and relatively local. CMT also do flat tooth grooving blades that work great if you knock together a box joint jig. Well wear with the saw. Another tip, is to make a panel sled for it with a couple of Fence Dogs, aluminium profile and a parf holed sled base - takes 10 minutes to make and the parf holes make setting the fence to 90 against the saw blade super easy (and while I think of it, put the chickens foot push stick onto its clip on the side of the saw and leave it there forever - a few mins making a Heisz or Pask push stick and your digits will be much safer! :D )

Had one and used it for several years but got fed up with its fence and inaccurate sliding mitre. Could never get the fence to lock square without adjustment every cut. Good points were it was powerful and dust collection wasn’t bad. The dewalt is the better saw and lumberjack do a pretty good one now too.

I've got the Porter Cable job site saw. It's mounted on a folding stand with wheels. The fence has to be fiddled with to get square to the blade and the miter gauge isn't the best. It's loose in the t-slot and really no way to adjust it to get rid of the slop. Besides the folding stand and ease of set up on the job, I like that I can use up to a half inch dado blade with it. Most job site saws don't allow use of a dado blade.

A solution to the sled would be to rub on some finishing paste wax to the aluminum and plastic tracks, let it sit for a 3 or so minutes then buff or rub it off. Paste wax is a dream for long term solutions for objects that slide past each other.

Hi John, I have the earlier version of this saw and found several KZbin videos on how to correct the fence issue, I'll try and find them and post them here for you. I'm just in the process of building a large (1200 x 2400mm) table to house this saw to give me more table surface for larger pieces. I'm very pleased with the saw and like you have made amendments to address the 2 issues you pointed out. I think you'll be quite happy with this saw it is a nice option.

Excellent review. I was looking at getting this saw as I liked the cross sled for accurate cross cuts. However, what you had to do to it to get it working properly has put me off. I cannot understand why Bosch do not address these issues, it puts loads of people off for the sake of a bit more accurate manufacturing. My Bosch pbd40 bench drill has a slight chuck wobble, again easily sorted at the manufacturing stage.

Hi John, Hope your Bosch saw performs better than mine did. Had it just a year and returned it twice to Bosch. On the second ocassion they returned it wrapped in a bit of black plastic sheet which was torn to hell. I immediately requested they take it back and refund what I had paid for it. It was returned within 3 days but took them 10 days to refund the money I had paid for the saw.

In another review the presenter noted how to adjust the fence via a knob on the tail end of the fence. Also you push on the fence before latching it. This is done to align the fence before it is secured. If it is then not aligned, adjust the alignment from the knob I noted above while the fence is not locked in.

Good informative video John, iv used a good few jobsite saws through the years and always found I had to constantly adjust the setup, vibration of use just keeps letting the stops move. Where a cabinet saw/Panel saw you can basically setup once and forget about it but as you said space and price is the downside to accuracy.

I really like the film. You convinced me to buy that saw. I was considering makita because it was in my budget but I saw so many films when makita got lots of problems. I have bought your bosch and I like it. I had the problem with a loose on cross cut and had solved your way. I'm finding a fence a little bit not accurate and I will consider to build a workbench with a proper fence. But for now this bosch is good enough. I hope you will show some more films how you work on it.

John great videos, I've been watching a lot of Man in the Shed... I have a very small Shop/Garage ahhh more like Garage/Shop I have a Rigid work-site saw about 14 years old and some day I hope to have a Saw Stop... but that being said for Christmas I got a Bora Centipede and a Mikita Track Saw... the Track saw changes the whole dimension of working in the shop. A small saw like the Borch... small compact in the shop along with a Track-Saw meets all DIY'er needs. My oppinion of table saws... cabinet grade is changing especially in small shops. Great review of the Borch, I watch every morning 2 or 3 You-Tubes looking for tips and How-to's in woodworking you do some great videos, I really like your Track-Saw videos... what a tool, I have some cabinet work to do can't wait to really use it along with my Bora Centipede... Mine is mounted on a mobile folding stand which I have found extremely useful for use in my workshop, agree about the niggles but like you say once adjusted their fine, dust extraction on mine could be better as the front does seem to get covered easily, there is an additional extraction port on top of the guard which I have yet to set up, looking forward to the cross cut sled 👍👍thanks again for another great vid 😀 👍

@@JohnMcGrathManInShed Standard = 19mm Bosch = 16. 8mm It's a T slot, but as you'll see, the wider part of the slot is 21mm and far too skinny to allow those corrective cam wheels to go in. I only discovered this after I bought a nice mitre fence setup from Axminster and had it delivered to me in France where I live now. They were perfectly understanding. I returned it and they recredited my bank. All rather annoying.

Chock full of good information...thanks for that. Stayed clear of table saws out of healthy fear... (band saw and miter saw and track saw can cover most power cutting needs)...but the versatility of a good table saw can make work quick and accurate...so after seeing your video, perhaps a table saw may find a place here. Maybe even the Bosch...but with Saw Stop option available will possibly go that route. Keep up the good content!

Had one of these for a few years. Raised the issues ref the fence, sliding mitre and that you cannot square the table to the blade with their customers support. (Doesn’t stay squared) Appalling service from them. The older they get the sloppier they become. To call them professional is a massive stretch of the imagination. Don’t waste your money just buy a cheap one if you cannot afford a proper table saw.

John, have you measured blade runout with a dial indicator by any chance? I am curious just how imprecise the "best of breed" jobsite saws are in that regard. Cabinet saws are said to be too far from true for joinery if blade wobble exceeds five thousandths of an inch. How far from that benchmark are these saws and can they be trued up by taking sandpaper and a grindstone to the arbor, arbor washer and nut? None of the reviews of the "best jobsite saw for woodworking" address runout, none that I've found, at least.

Hi John, thank you for your very informative videos. This one was particularly interesting as I am about to build my (retirement) workshop and I am trying to decide which table saw to go for. The Bosch 10XC is on my short list and I like the versatility it has, and the power. The concerns are around the fence accuracy. I noted that you had selected this one on the basis it was an opportunity at the time at a good price. My questions really are around; what would you have gone for as your ideal pick if this had not become available, and after near on 12 months, what do you think now about the Bosch? I am a hobbyist woodworker, and my new workshop will be 14' x 10' so relatively compact, so needing something of quality but compact and versatile.

Hi, Im also retired and space limited. This drove me to buy the Metabo. It comes with its own wheels, fold up legs and when folded takes up little room. It is very good for my hobbies needs and certainly solved my space issues. I think it is worth a look.

John, I solved the problem of the fence just by adding masking tape to the aluminum front bar. I took the idea from this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5jNg5JphZWbrNU. He used several layers of aluminum tape. I just used one layer of masking tape and it really works well. The fence becomes a litlle stiffer but I lubricate the masking tape with paraffine and it works well. In my opinion, another problem of the saw is the red indicator for taking measures and the lens. I think it is not so precise. I removed the lens and the indicator and replaced it with a more precise metering scale. I will post you some photos.

When you were doing your chopping board last week I was going to contact you and ask if you where interested in buying a brand new Dewalt table saw that I bought during lockdown. My work space is just not big enough so I’m thinking of selling it. You know what they say the “early bird catches the worm”😡

The fence wobble has been an issue for over 6years. When will Bosch redesign and release a newer model with a fix? Or do they not care?

Nice one John been waiting for this. I've been using away at an old sheppach saw recently and its so handy. but the silent blade spin after turning off is fairly dangerous.

Hi John, Are you having any issues with dust collection on this saw ?

It's not great, but it's also not the worst I have seen, table saws are always difficult when it comes to dust extraction

Oh, to set the bevel stops, you actually just losen, set you blade and lock it, then tighten the end stop, it will auto spin down and butt into the handle and tighten in place, one shot, no adjust and check BS

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice kzbin.infoUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

Why does the fence extend past the blade? When ripping natural timber, the blade should only extend 50mm past the front of the blade. This will increase the likelihood of kick back
