This song was actually written about his dad, during the recession of 2008, his Dad lost his job, and was struggling to find another one. His Dad was visibly distraught about it, and Tyler decided to write this song for him. He has fallen in love, (with his family) and he knows that it's enough, but the world looks down on him for not working. And then they know he's qualified but don't give him a job and blame it on the times. Hopefully that makes sense. As far as Twenty One Pilots, you've reacted to most of Vessel and Blurryface already, but there's 8 songs of Regional at Best they you haven't listened too, Slowtown, Forest, Ruby, Glowing Eyes, Lovely, Anathema, Be Concerned, and Clear. Imo no real order is necessary, but those 8 would be awesome.

Thank you for the background to the song. That makes a few of those lyrics make a lot more sense!

Unfortunately for you i hit Fables channel first for 21 pilots lol, i have since listened to a lot of reactors to 21 pilots, and if it's any consolation after Fable, you are head and shoulders above the rest, thank you very much, always look forward to your reactions.

You should react to the last one “Trench” and then chronologically back “Blurryface” and “Vessel”

I really like your interpretation of it. Just like every song Tyler writes, it can mean whatever the listener needs it to mean. 💛

As someone shared below Tyler's dad did several videos with someone called the Pop Song Professor, who had broken down every song. Search Chris Joseph Pop Song Professor to see them. He did this song, Hometown, Christmas Saves the Year, House of Gold, and even a stream with his dad doing top trivia lol.

I would love to see you react to this entire album together! I have a head canon theory that this whole album is a concept album telling the story of Johnny Boy and his life.

Yes. I heard ST was written as a musical with Johnny Boy being the lead character. And ST really does sound like a musical soundtrack. Even Blurryface and Trench could be based on an earlier idea to create a musical.

I think that before you move on from the self titled era you should react to the OCB sessions. A studio recording of some songs from self titled. I know you already reacted to some of their newer songs but before moving on complete from self titled the OCB sessions is a must. Not only is the original line up present in this one but also Tyler gives some amazing insight on the creative process of their music. Also Nick talks about how he met Tyler and how they come to working on music together. It’s two separate videos both about 10 min but definitely worth it. Part 1: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZvOiXxqfdR7qZI Part 2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYOshnaFiJJrZqc Aside from that another option would be the Battle of the Bands. This is the earliest know performance of twenty one pilots from 2009. The quality of the videos is not the best but you can still enjoy it. What I love most about this show is the fact that even though they didn’t have a huge fan base back then you can see the passion they had from day one. You can see the passion Tyler had from the start specially on Friend, Please and March to the Sea. Here’s the link to the full show about 20min long: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpLRk5Sei5eLjqs Or you can do them individually just search “twenty one pilots battle of them bands” if you don’t want to do all of them at lest do Friend, Please.

what do you think of reacting to "Stressed out" and "Ride" by Twenty one pilots? Let me explain... when you just started reacting to them and you heard Car Radio you were surprised and said that you only heard ride and stressed out from them and you thought they were quote "Stupid". I think you should give those songs a new listen and see if you get something else from this song after actually knowing twenty one pilots.

this song did confuse me a bit but i think it is about the common man, no big accomplishments not special in the world, but hardworking and wanting to do whats right even if he never gets recognized. i don't think he's cheating, i interpreted it as him falling in love with God and God showing he cares about the little simple Johnny boy everyman. but i agree the lyrics are confusing

I always sort of interpret the song singing about a trans guy living in a transphobic Environment-I know the lyrics are talking about tylers dad, but since im trans myself I always saw the lyrics that way since many of the lyrics also would make sense in that way. But thats just my own Interpretation of the song
@esselleanderic
@esselleanderic 3 жыл бұрын
I can see exactly where you’re coming from, I originally interpreted them as he was singing about a guy who was gay but hadn’t come out yet. That’s the beauty of Tyler’s writing 💛

@Ess Elle This is how I interpret it too. Nothing to do with my own sexuality. Just how I interpret it. And everyone is important in this world, no one should be made to feel shame.

I think move on to the next album RAB- & finish the songs you haven’t done (as you’ve done a few already) it’ll be interesting to see your reaction the difference between the songs here that are also redone on Vessel as there are subtle differences- then go on to finish the songs you haven’t done on blurry face & trench. I also think it’s good to hear the originals before doing alternate versions- but they are a must as they are all so awesome 😄
