Johnny & Dorsey Burnette were from the same home town as Elvis... Just for the record this came before Jailhouse Rock... A lot of these early Rockabilly guys took the lead from Elvis but they were not copies... People like Carl Perkins were coming up with this sound simultaneously as Elvis... It just took Elvis to break with it...

Not bad. I'd heard of him, though he's a bit before my time... I do remember his son Rocky Burnette though, and I loved some of his songs like Tired of Toeing the Line and Falling in Love.

El's Sun sound was as Rockabilly as Perkins or Johnny Burnette but these early Rockabilly guys all had their own style... People like Burnette, Holly & Cochran were only influenced by him, they all quickly found their own style... You can't penalize these people for being younger than Elvis at 21 years of age Elvis recorded 'Heartbreak Hotel', at the age of 21 Eddie Cochran was dead...

@@ste.6026 And Johnny wasn't younger than Elvis at all. They went both to school and both to the same work

@@RustingPeace My fault I already knew that about Johnny, I was talking in respect of Holly, Cochran, Nelson etc!... I should really proof read before before sending... All I really wanted to do is defend the likes of Eddie, Buddy and Johnny against Elvis fans that have no knowledge of anything outside of their beloved King and believe him to untouchable... I grew up loving El and he was No1 until I found the likes of Holly, Cochran & The R&R Trio... That was in the 70's... Well spotted, I hang my head in shame lol...

This a fun version of this great song, but the definitive version was made by Aerosmith in the mid Seventies. Their cover of the Burnette classic is now the most recognizable version. It is so awesome! You guys should react to that version, so you can hear it in its more modern and robust glory. I'm sure you'll love it.
