He's right. It's most difficult to stay separate from "ego".😔 This grounded attitude is why he's so popular. His interaction is extremely appealing.😊😊😊

I am 73 yrs old, and listening to this program brought tears to my eyes. I grew up in the 50ties what a wonderful time, at least where I lived in the northeast Ga mts and my family was more privileged than most. But I remember my days with one of my friends who's parents had a SMALL beer joint in the north end of the county, my friend hated her parents business, but I found it exciting, anyway, I can remember hearing the Johnny Cash song Ring of Fire and just loved it, I was probably, 10 yrs old. To this day I always loved it, and what a different tune it was with the trumpets which had never been done, I think he said that had come to him in a dream (I could be wrong about that, but that might be in his book). I must go now, but he, and so many true musical geniuses are just precious, have never been, or never be any like them again, one of a kind, truly !!!

as he talked about Jack, I almost started crying, hearing him talk about him like he did, I just got emotional, and you could hear the quiver in voice. to lose Jack must have been the hardest day of his life. RIP J.R I miss you, we all miss you, i hope you're in heaven, gathering around, daddy singin' bass, mama singin' tenor and you and jack and your other siblings joining in❤

@@AntoineFinch What does "partially black" have to do with John Cash's story? They, like millions of other couples, had problems in their marriage and got a divorce - much of it caused by John's drug abuse. Cash never claimed to be perfect or a saint, and in fact was very open about his many faults & regrets. There are actually some things that happen that have nothing to do with 'race' - and anyone who truly knows JC & his story would know he was probably the least "racist", bigoted or judgemental person you would ever know.
@AntoineFinch2 жыл бұрын
@@GotWag we know he was a saint! just like trump huh?
@GotWag2 жыл бұрын
@@AntoineFinch It is truly a shame that you know nothing about Cash. He was not a saint, but he WAS a champion for non-white people, the poor, women, and so on. You would be doing yourself a favor to actually learn about Johnny Cash, his life, his thoughts and his actions. Such as when the POTUS wanted him to perform at the White House and sing a song that Cash considered 'racist', or how he attacked the music industry when they wouldn't play his songs about native Americans on the radio, how he came to be 'the Man in Black' and so on and so on. You're doing yourself a disservice by making assumptions about a man you have no clue about.

Odd how we often find lots about persons (like Johnny) and we loved him, his entertainment, etc, but then we do not mean to but we get used to the person, we seem to almost think they will never leave...but they do...and then we discover that we never realized how enormously we loved them and their lives, music. Johnny was a great, humble person and never had that great ego...remaining so humble all his life. An amazing man.

the fact that JR had an ego, but he refused to be a prisoner of his own celebrity, and he was not afraid to be stopped for an autograph, thats the kind of person that every celeb should be, he was a regular human, talented, but human, and he only showed that side of him, which is great to see that he was not gonna take his ego off stage with him. I love his music, his range, the way he plays, and he has been a favorite of mine for years

I’m just about finished reading Vivian’s book, titled, “I Walked The Line” subtitled, “My Life With Johnny” Johnny is very deep and spiritual. Vivian and Johnny were able to spend time together a few months before he went home to be with the Lord. Vivian wanted his approval to write a book about their life together. He told her if anyone’s story needed to be heard it should be hers.

In the early 90s my family was a Carters valley fold music festival. A man came up and talked to my parents about me and my twin brother. He grabbed us two ice creams and gave them to us. My parents were super excited and I didn’t understand at the time what the big deal was. It was years later, in 8th grade, I understood the nice man in a black suit that summer was Johnny Cash.

This was only three days before Cash would almost collapse during a concert in Michigan, after which he announced to the audience that he had Parkinson's (later misdiagnosed.) He would be forced to stop touring by the end of the month, and would only make a few occasional performances afterward until his death.

My Pappie always watched Ralph Emery. Pappie said that Ralph wuz the only feller on the TV whut told the truth. Pappie wrote a letter to Ralph one time, even though he only had a 3rd grade education. He got a letter back saying, "Dear Harold, thank you for your kind letter. Enclosed is a picture for your bedroom wall." It wuz a picture of Ralph and that puppet he called Shotgun er sum dumb name. Pappie put that picture in a frame and put it atop the TV.
