Johnny Depp, testifying during his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, appeared to get frustrated with her attorney's line of questioning about a flight from Boston to Los Angeles, at one point mocking him for taking too long to find a document he wanted to ask the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor about. "I understand when you take 5 minutes to look for a document."

Johnny spends a good sum to charity. Even during his fall, he still did. He’s the only celebrity I really care about because he isn’t like the others. You can live a Celebrity life but still be in tune with the world. The fact his life fell apart because of her, is why he needs justice. She needs to feel how he felt when he lost his career, money, respect. Imagine wanting to take your kids out (I know they’re grown now), and spending time with them but everyone shuns you calling you an abuser.

The context there is clear though, the lawyer asks a question, Johnny disagrees, the lawyer tries to lean on previous court documents that show Johnny acknowledging the statement he is about to give or gives is _acquiescence,_ not fact. These are terrible attempts that only serve to highlight the defense has nothing of substance and are grasping at straws. Johnny's lawyers will graze across those points in return to clarify, which serves only to demonstrate the defense is reaching and really have absolutely nothing of substance and certainly no evidence to prove Johnny was violent towards Amber Turd.

@@calliecocritter9247 Don't get smart GreenieBeanie! Johnny Depp is not perfect. He may even be guilty of some or all of these claims. But he comes across as very measured and very genuine and very softly spoken. Those attributes of course don't make him innocent, but since watching these clips of the trial I feel more respect for him. Amber Heard on the other hand appears to be putting on an act, a fake face, one that fits perfectly her own narrative. She seems volatile...and I know what that is like having recently separated from a very aggressive wife. To some extent they have both fuelled each others aggression and eventually imploded. Depp has not lied about his taking drugs and his drinking. His honesty is apparent. I admire that quality.

As a recovering opiate addict Johnny's right. You don't drink alcohol when you take opiates. So stop asking if he was blackout drunk he told you he wasn't so that's the answer. It's nothing controversial. You feel nauseous when using opiates the last thing you'd want to do is drink alcohol, as well as feeling the best you'll ever feel what would alcohol add to that? Lastly you'll be nodding, very tired and euphoric. So again, Johnny is right. It's different to a blackout. A sleepy version of cocaine that's all.

I'm watching this case impartially because I'm not American and i don't know anything abour Johnnys life until this point, even if i watched and liked many of his movies and as many love the captain sparrow. Amber..never heard, never watching anything with her. I just enjoy watching trial cases. The public is so blindly takes by bias for Johnny, who's definitely the big celebrity here that they don't attack left and right. Go watch jodi arias case (the woman who stabbed her ex to death) when she witnessed the pressecutor was way more rude but everybody called him wild because jodi had massive evidence against her and was deflecting questions, he just wanted to humiliate the killer and got a round of applause for doing not much. Even without trial jodi would be considered guilty anyway. Ex: "did travis called you 3 hole wonder?" (Relevance? None. But her lawyers couldnt do much and just let the prossecutor roast). Oh bias bias.

The defense seems desperate to link drugs & alcohol with violence. But nay. Johnny Depp is a far cry from a violent man. He was the one being verbally accosted, emotionally battered AND physically abused. She belittled, insulted, slapped, scratched, kicked, punched, threw objects at him, pushed a lit cigarette into his cheek on the same night she threw a vodka bottle at him that severed the tip of his finger. So, violent? No. He was the victim. Watching the details of this is heartbreaking. I can feel in my heart that JD is a good & kind man.

Sadly - and this is not unique to US law - the employment of rhetorical trickery and logical fallacies is an age-old and time-honoured tactic of lawyering, since before Cicero's time. Whilst there are a few moments where an objection can be made, and a judge can step in, for the most part it is considered to be part of the game to emotionally harass witnesses and to emotionally manipulate the jury to disregard evidence in favour of irrational judgement.

Much as these lines of questioning get under our skin, remember that at the end of the day, this is a "play" and the court's a stage. Being aggressive may be part of defence's strategy, and it's up to the opposite counsel to coach their witnesses to not lose cool, say only what is essential, and deflect answering questions that might be taken against them (i.e. see how he took advantage of what Depp said during deposition, simply because he got tired at the time and just caved to the questions). They're not even the worst cross-examiners out there imo. This being a public trial just magnifies their blunders into large proportions.

This lawyer is badgering. This way of questions is ridiculous. They are changing what happened by selecting what points to include. They should just let Johnny say what happened and why.
