As a victim of severe childhood abuse and into my young adult years a lot of it done by my own mom, I have wondered the past few months even before this case went public why it is still so looked down upon for men to say they were victims. My therapist and me agree abuse has no limits. Anyone can be a victim or a perpetrator of abuse. Mothers can abuse their kids, dads can abuse their kids, men can abuse their partners and women can abuse their partners. Time for us guys to start coming forward. I have been done staying silent for over a year now. I am grateful Johnny Depp is bringing awareness to male victims of abuse. @adyan40102 жыл бұрын
So Will and Elizabeth were supposed to be the main characters?
@finnlai35632 жыл бұрын
@@adyan4010 Yeah, Will in particular. Actually in the first movie you can still see that the story does follow Will with Jack being a kind of sidekick and exposition device. But almost all the best scenes of that movie ended up being ones that Jack is in it. During pre-production there were a lot of tug-of-wars regarding the script going on between writers, producers and Disney, especially for the character Jack. But when Depp was finally brought on to the project, he shone new light onto Jack at the first reading with his portrayal, all thanks to him doing a lot of research for the character beforehand. He altered the character so much that it shocked the whole team, including Disney, who wanted to sack Depp because they didn't get the performance or sth. After the first film becoming a major hit and Jack Sparrow becoming a household name, the Pirate team still wanted to push Jack aside as they didn't want the trilogy to end up becoming Jack fan service. But Depp continued with his performance and Jack continued to win fans' hearts. So by the time we reached the third film Depp kind of did just charm Jack's way onto the center stage, leading to Jack becoming the one face of the Pirate franchise.

In the 13 years since I turned 30, and dated a psychotic abuser, I have seen so many cases of women abusing male friends, people I know, etc. Physical, verbal, psychological, financial…..whatever type of abuse you can imagine. Whenever I see those general slogans/statements like “believe women” or a ton of bs surrounding “me too”, I always kind of shake my head now. It’s really unfortunate. No one has the right to assault another person regardless of gender, and verbal and psychological abuse and trauma should be taken more seriously. If the internet wasn't so quick to cancel others in cases where there hasnt been concrete evidence, the disastrous results of being falsely accused of a crime does more damage than can be repaired in a very short amount of time. If there has been concrete evidence, I think the internet can do as they please though. Cancel culture doesnt seem like it can go away, but I hope more people become more aware thats its not smart to join mob mentality online without research. Actual female victims of abuse despise people like her, using this very serious thing as a way to get petty revenge and trashing the trust thats so important for victims of abuse.

I really hope this sets a precedence to ALL companies and people that they should not act rashly until a proper investigation and verdict - by an authorized people and court of law - is given. Acting without thinking is no different than being a mindless mob like that of Twitter. Too many times, a false accusation of a serious offense destroys an innocent life and half of the problem lies not in the accuser but the people who hear it and act way too soon. Or rather, the people who are too COWARDLY to accept and admit that they were wrong and they should apologize for jumping the gun. This is no longer an issue of individual vs individual. It's a serious societal flaw best summed up by the infamous words of: "When you ASSUME, you make an ASS out of U and ME!" Society punishing before a proper trial is in place is how actual offenders gets away with it because it removes the legitimacy of the accuser's words. In other words, you're potentially destroying the chances of an actual victim getting justice when you take matters in your own hands. There's a reason why news outlets are careful when they state that a person being detained is a "Suspect." It's so that the suspect, even if they're obviously committing a crime on camera, does not use that very report as their defense. You can argue that criminal cases and civil cases operate differently in court, but the principles remain the same and regardless of the future verdict, that's what Johnny is using to his advantage to prove his innocence. Disclaimer, I am neutral in my opinion here. I will wait for the court to declare the verdict because it's not my damn job and I don't want to contribute to any potential injustice.

So if a company gets destroyed because they supported someone who in the future gets sentenced as an abuser, is the said abuser gonna pay them back? I am not saying this about depp, but what if this was someone else who IS an abuser or a criminal? These companies wont make a profit off of someone who has a pending case against them... It will destroy the image of the company, especially one like disney which is catered towards a younger audience
@Deliar122 жыл бұрын
@@crudojoshuaricofort8795 That's the point man. Companies should WAIT. Not drop the actor like a hot potato, not support and keep them acting like with Heard. WAIT. Stop the production of the movie, suspend it until the case is over, and THEN make a desition. But the money hungry bastards don't want to take a financial hit and act fast, hoping to still make the damn movie...
@BrokenLifeCycle2 жыл бұрын
@@crudojoshuaricofort8795 What's to say that they already didn't tarnish themselves when they basically contributed to the matters by taking premature action? Depp's case is blurry in that there's a good chance that there's fault in BOTH sides (as far as I understand). That's why I'll wait for the court to make their decision. It's those other much clearer cases such as Goldman v Reddington which infuriate me to no end. Let me summarize this case as best as I can interpret. Correct me if I'm wrong somewhere, though. It was a rape allegation followed by a social media smear campaign which ruined the Goldman's life. Basically, Reddington woke up, thought she was raped, did the correct action by immediately going to a hospital and authorities to allow them to gather critical evidence within that 26 hour critical period. They didn't. She didn't accept their statement and promptly pushed the allegations to social media. Goldman's university did their own investigation and somehow concluded that sexual assault occurred and expelled him. Mind you, this is a party which doesn't have a vested interest to be unbiased due to public reputation and pressure from Reddington's smear campaign - they had less to lose if they assumed him guilty regardless of prior evidence to the contrary. This entire case summarizes my issues with how society responds to allegations. Even if Goldman wins in his defamation case, society itself won't care. They're minds have already been made up. They've been proven wrong but they are unapologetically incapable of accepting fault and mistake.

The old Johnny we know and love is still there when he starts to break into a smile bless him, then he stops,remembering where he is. I love how his face comes alive when he smiles. That evil lying creature as knocked him back and abused and depressed him so much by trying to goad him, boss and control him throughout their marriage. Whoever heard of a partner demanding they go to bed at the same time and not. Acceptable to say no….insisting SHE takes his boots off and going berserk if he does it himself….insisting he sits and waits for a large glass of wine straight away….( that added to his abusing drink!). Trying to walk away from an argument,to end it, by ending up locking the bathroom door and sitting on the floor waiting for her to go…but she never did! In my opinion he was a gentleman throughout…never laid a hand on her, except her shoulders to move her out of his way…she has never complained of bruises on her shoulders or shown photos…..pathetic creature she is. I pray she never gets a good lead role ever again, and please men out there, don’t be fooled by her if you are ever unlucky enough to meet her!!!
