She wasn't lying, she just handled it all very poorly. Johnny is a man in his 50's who has obviously problems with drugs and alcohol, and despite his achievements still seems to have a lot insecurities. Which is probably the reason he married a much younger woman after he split with his partner of 14 years. A man of a certain age who is depressed, jealous and full of rage can behave like that sometimes, especially when intoxicated. Some people just bring out the worst in each other. Good people have low points too.
