Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another Johnny Hallyday reaction and his song Je Te Promets. Johnny really tugs the heart with this song, with an intense vocal delivery more power than ever. JJ Goldman is on the project no wonder why this thing is EPIC! It leaves me in tears.

Magnifique chanson. L'orfèvre Goldman a encore frappé.

As a French kid i grew up in 90's with my dad listening to Johnny's musics, he was not even a singer of my generation but it just putted a hole in my heart (and i bet i'm not alone) when he died. we will never have a singer like him who touched every generation's hearts anymore. This song bring me to tear everytime.

Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Johnny Hallyday. This song "Je Te Promets" (I Promise You) composed by Jean-Jacques Goldman was released in June 1987 as the third single from his thirty-fifth studio album "Gang" ranked No.5 in the TOP 50, selling over 400,000 copies. Over time, this song becomes a Johnny Hallyday standard because it is one of the most popular titles with the public. Following his death in December 2017, it reappeared in the charts and became no. 1 in sales but also a gold record in December 2018. The clip meanwhile was made in 1987 by Bernard Schmitt, one of Johnny's regular collaborators, with blue tinted images for the most part, very fashionable at the time in music videos. The Swiss actress Anne Richard makes a short appearance in the clip (the young blonde woman with short hair) known in a series in France on the second channel where she plays a judge from 1999 to 2016. In this beautiful album composed by "JJG", I recommend you "Je T'Attends" (1986), "J'Oublierai Ton Nom" in duet with Carmel (who sang "Sally") and Laura in 1987, a tribute to his daughter at the time who has since grown up and become an actress like her mother Nathalie Baye, a well-known actress in France. 15 years later, she will admit to him that she played in his clip. Thanks for your great job our Frenchie American friend 👌🇫🇷 and don't let yourself be ruled by this bunch of cheap brats, let them shit in the vineyard!😉😁Have a nice day! ;-)

A legend... 57 years of career. Almost 1300 songs in total.. By listening to these songs you will realize that this great singer was capable of singing everything.. A unique voice without equal.. His voice has only evolved over the years, it has become more and more powerful and precise.. He has done many exceptional concerts, crazy entrances like at the Parc des Princes in 1993 by entering from the back of the stadium and passing through the middle of the crowd for 3 nights in a row (no one had done that before him) and he did it again in 2013 at Bercy, in 1998 he arrived by helicopter above the Stade de France, in 1984 at the Zénith he came out with a giant hand, in 2012 at the Stade de France he arrived in a giant ball etc. To date he has sold more than 111 million albums, that's huge!! So imagine if he had had an international career... He brought together several generations. He brought together the rich, the less rich and the poor. He sang with several big international stars. He sang in several different languages. And many other wonderful songs...

Je te promets le sel au baiser de ma bouche Je te promets le miel à ma main qui te touche Je te promets le ciel au dessus de ta couche Des fleurs et des dentelles pour que tes nuits soient douces ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I promise you salt at the kiss of my lips I promise you honey at the touch of my hand I promise you the sky above your bed Flowers and laces to make your nights sweet I promise you the key to the secrets of my soul I promise you life, from my laughter to my tears I promise you fire instead of weapons No more farewell, only see you later I believe in it as in the earth, I believe in it as in the sun I believe in it like a child, as one can believe in heaven I believe in it as in your skin, in your arms that hold me tight I promise you a story unlike any other I need so much to believe again I promise you days as blue as your veins I promise you nights as red as your dreams Incandescent hours and white minutes Carefree seconds to the rhythm of your hips I promise you my arms to carry your anguish I promise you my hands for you to kiss I promise you my eyes if you can no longer see I promise to be happy if you have no hope I believe in it as in the earth, I believe in it as in the sun I believe in it like a child, like one can believe in heaven I believe in it as in your skin, in your arms that hold me tight I promise you a story unlike any other If you help me believe again And even if it's not true, if you heard it too many times If the words are worn out, as if written in chalk You can make a big fire by rubbing pebbles together Patiently, by dint of belief We can just try and see And even if it's not true, even if I'm lying If words are worn, light as wind And even if our story ends in the morning I promise you a moment of fever and sweetness Not all night but just a few hours... I promise you salt at the kiss of my lips I promise you honey at the touch of my hand I promise you the sky above your bed Flowers and laces to make your nights sweet

I want to adore this song but I keep waiting for a refrain that never arrives. It's like he is stuck on an infinite bridge.

That's because Pop songs often connect the verse and chorus via a pre-chorus, with a bridge section usually appearing after the second chorus. The verse and chorus are usually repeated throughout a song, while the intro, bridge, and coda are usually only used once. For this song Goldman used a crescendo base which allow Johnny to showcase his amazing range, there is no chorus (we say chorus in english not "refrain")
