Here's the great thing about people like John Lydon...he says all the stuff that we are thinking...you know...those thoughts that never come out...he just says them...lol...he has no filter. He is brutal...but I really understand him and it's addicting to see someone who is so open with it.

Johnny and I think the same way about the world in many respects. The more honest you are the more people will dislike you or become uncomfortable. And I don't mean every day, polite honesty I'm talking spontaneous, individualistic honesty. Not passive, miming, socially accepted, robotic honesty but purer honesty that generates from within and is allowed to free itself through the vocal chords.

It's videos like this that make me embarrassed to be Finnish. I mean, sure, he was a tough interview, but the interviewer is so monotone and reacts so indifferently to Lydon's answers it's surprising he didn't just walk out of the room. Also, "last question, do you like Deep Purple" I mean what in the actual fuck?

In all fairness...she's interviewing a faded star in a forgotten-about (to most of Europe and to all of the rest of the world) band. No oddly. He was often quite mannerly, even a gentleman to the ladies at least ~ it's only that people who are comfortable in the p.c. world typically feel shocked or outraged whenever Lydon simply answers a question honestly. His reputation for being outrageous was really silly imo. Mr.Honesty with a dollop of abrasiveness at the absolute worst. He's also not given enough credit for humor. I think people were so busy being freaked out that they'd miss out on how hillarious he was! He's ok in my book.

Meanwhile banDs like THE SLIT'S, THE FALL, JOY DIVISION, WIRE , JOSEF K, SIOUXIE AND THE BANSHEE'S , X-RAY SPECS, THE POP GROUP, PERE UBU were new, exciting and utterly unique in their sound
