That...right there...should have been the day the IRFU called him up and told him 'you won't be captaining Ireland again'. Leave aside his inability to communicate effectively with Refs. The most important point to note is that he should never have been made captain by Farrell. His role as a No.10 in the Irish team is to organise his backs and provide feedback to the forwards and vice versa. By talking to the ref, never mind the arguing, his effectiveness as an organiser and leader of his players is reduced.
