Cyberpunk 2077 is coming this fall from CDProjekt Red and R. Talsorian Games which projects the timeline of the beloved classic Pen & Paper RPG to the year 2077. So far everything I've seen about this game has me very excited and I do not usually get very hyped up about a new game release. The trailers and in game footage look positively fantastic! In one popular chunk of game footage that's been released we see our ally Jackie ordering "Two tequila old fashioned's with a splash of cerveza", the bartender refers to this as a "Johnny Silverhand". It's named for the long established NPC Rockerboy who first appears in the 1988 Cyberpunk 2020 release, and is now being performed by Keanu Reeves. A number of you have asked me for my take on this drink and I got my bottles out and got to work on it, and here it is. I'm pretty damn pleased with this one, I'd be lying if I told you that every drink I made on this show was 100% spot of perfect, but I really don't think there's a thing I'd change here.
Johnny Silverhand
Prepare a glass by rimming it with chipotle powder and set aside
In mixing glass combine
.25 - .5 oz. or 8 - 15 ml. simple syrup
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 Dash orange Bitters ( I used Regan's)
2 oz. or 60 ml. Tequila ( I use La Gritona)
Stir over ice and strain into the prepare glass
Using the back of a barspoon float approx. 3 oz of Agave Maria beer from the Last Abbey

@@Heiryuu They have a new box set "Cyberpunk Red". It's a bit 90's, but it feels easier than I remember the old system being. Basic roll is Stat+Skill+d10. It has a fun little micro-lifepath system that could be fun. I haven't had a change to play as I am old and too busy (pity me), but it looks fun. It'd be more fun if we weren't LIVING a cyberpunk but hey--that's not their fault.

Two years late but quick note about Johnny, despite his love for hard drinks and liquor (as seen in the game) one thing I think ties into his old-fashioned lifestyle is never forgetting your old habits. Most likely, the choice of beer isn’t just a off-hand decision by Silverhand, instead its to remember how he used to kick it back, with a few beers and a good time. Johnny is all about remembering and honoring, and most importantly rebelling. So not only could it be a way to remember the old fashions, but to also rebel in his own way by adding beer of all things to a cocktail. Gotta say, has a rockerboy charm to it.

For viewers in the UK, this works well enough with Westmalle (fairly widely available), which is about half as strong as Last Abbey's Agave Maria. Just take the layer pour really slow, and it should layer up fine. Obviously don't know if it tastes fully authentic, but I enjoyed it.

i had this exact same thought about 2 weeks ago! ur right, there really just aren’t any worthwhile mainstream limoncello cocktails (in my opinion) so i decided to make my own like our man greg. i haven’t actually gotten around to testing it yet, i’ve been busy lately, but i’m basically making four versions of the drink and seeing which i like best. it involves flavors limoncello, rum, ginger and possibly mint with a garnish of grated nutmeg, and ill be trying different ways of incorporating these flavors into the drink. once i find the combination that i think works best i could let you know

I've made this one a *lot* recently, and here's some notes: - i can't get the beer to float on the tequila with the one i'm using (Faust Eisbock, 12% alcohol), instead it sinks to the bottom, and i still get my layers. - sprinkling in some ancho chili rather than adding it to the rim of the glass adds an interesting effect: the ancho will sink through the tequila but float on the beer, so i get two distinct layers, separated by floating chili

For any experimenters, I could not find this beer OR any other beer that would work as a substitute, so I just stuck with a regular Mexican cerveza (regular Modelo), and to get the agave element (besides the tequila ofc) I used some agave nectar to balance it, and while it doesn’t look quite right, it tastes pretty good, quite a bit sweeter than he described since it’s a much lighter beer but I’m enjoying it. Maybe it’s more of a Johnny Bronzehand 😬
