I actually ahve been having the opposite feeling on playstation. I was a nintendo/Xbox kid growing up, only having a PS3 shortly from 2012-2013, but recently I have poured alot into my PS5 i got back in 2023. I believe its largely due to Perona and FF, since at the time FF7 Remake was PS5/Epic Games exclusive, and later Rebirth. Although i have zero intention on buying the PS5 Pro. No need, and hella expensive.

When they inevitably greenlight a sequel, I really hope they consider implementing more PlayStation IP-themed levels. There’s a lot of awesome potential for unique world-specific game mechanics and stuff, like imagine having to sneak through a Sly Cooper world or win a death race in Twisted Metal!

I know people compared this game to Super Mario Galaxy. But I also get Kirby & The Forgotten Land vibe when playing at this game. You got an world map that you can progress to another stage or explore and unlock secret levels like in Forgotten Land, you rescue bots for stage progression and upgrading your hub worlds just like with Waddle Dees, you have limited movesets & power ups for more accessibility just like with Kirby & it's copy ability, there's an gotcha machine and even the first or second boss are an gorilla & an tree. This game is an homage to not just Sony, but 3D platformerimg games that it took inspirations from and it is very nice to see.

Astro Bot is a completely legitimate reason for me to finally go out and buy a PlayStation 5...alas, it will still be a long while before I can do so. But from what I've seen about Astro Bot, it is a 100% pure reminder as to why platformers are my favorite genre of all time, and why I fell in love with gaming.

Too much money and time sank into making photorealistic graphics, games taking an eternity to come out.......my dream games all have a 6th gen aesthetic where draw distance, lighting, destructible and interactive environments are prioritized over texture quality and polygon count.

When I saw Jaster's bot pop up in the desert I got all emotional. I remember hearing that Batman Beyond voiced the main character way back in the day. I looked all over the place for the game before finding it in a random thrift store. Fell in love with it immediately. Finally got a PS5 earlier this year and the first thing I played was Rogue Galaxy. It was so nice to see Jaster in something new.

A part of me believes that the cameo worlds were chosen because of their first party successes on each of the respective PlayStations. Ps1 had Ape escape, ps2 has God of war, using Dad of War because that’s the latest one, ps3 had Uncharted and ps4 had Horizon. Which is a neat choice honestly, it’s their way of looking back

My brother has absolutely adored Astro since the PS4 VR game and loves this, too. I like it as well, love a good platformer. It also gave me a reason to track down Ratchet and Clank games. Well, the PS2 trilogy and Rift Apart. Damn fun games and just finished Going Commando.

The main reason I use a PS5 nowadays is that I prefer controllers over KB+M, and prefer consoles for ease of use on a TV. My Steam Deck has a pretty decent TV mode, but not as foolproof as my PS5 has been. Plus, every once in a while when we get a great exclusive like this, I'm glad the PS5 is there.

Johnny kinda hit the nail on the head with how i feel lately with how Playstation ips function now. As someone who actually plays a lot of playstations new exclusives. I still love em. But i grew up in the ps2 era and owned every playstation before and after. I love playstations ips But every new one is just kinda blending nowadays. Nothings wrong with hyper graphic third person video games with great stories. But outside of God of War being my favorite series ever. I also like Sly Cooper which has style, i love Gravity Rush that has a beautiful unique look to it along with gameplay. These games used to be unique. But now. Its just very, lets push the graphical limit and nothing more. Theres too many ips collecting dust nowadays for them to ignore.

You know John I kinda agree if it weren’t for say Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper and maybe Uncharted I don’t really play many 1st party Sony games. It’s mainly 3rd party stuff like FF, Sonic and Persona. But I can tell that there was a lot of love poured into this game so I do want to get it when either the price drops or the money is right which may be after I finish playing Castlevania Aria of Sorrow

The problem with PlayStation imo is how they just...Drop IP. So many IP just fall to the wayside, I know every company has this problem, but man...If you're a passionate PlayStation fan from any era before the PS4? You can't help but feel out of touch because your series are kind of....Mostly dead, first party wise I stress. Astro is a beautifully crafted game in it's own right, but It's respect of PlayStation's legacy is really appreciated.

The only downside with this game for me involves some of the Bots. This game is for the 30th Anniversary of the Playstation, Sweet Tooth and Cloud Strife are nowhere to be found, yet we got bots based on characters like Arthur, Ulala, Octodad, and a Fall Guys bean that aren't really associated with the Playstation like most of the other third-party characters are. I'm hoping that with the DLC that'll be coming out that Sweet Tooth and Cloud will be two of the Bots added, because it's a crime that they weren't in the base game.
