To be honest, it didn't really as seem much of a strain. He genuinely seems to love Ratchet & Clanks core gameplay which is probably why he cranked out the first 4 reviews so fast. Of course these 2 games in particular are spotty and Secret Agent Clank in particular being surprisingly draining was always an odd case. I'm curious to see his DK64 review though because... Bless you Johnny, I think a lot of R&C fans like myself knew these games were going to be a real test but it's always a joy to see your own perspective when it comes to these. Generally speaking I think I largely feel the same way about both games, I really wanted to like Size Matters the compromised controls and camera is A LOT to ask and I even tried playing it on Vita to see if it's button mapping for the controller helped and unfortunately I couldn't quite get into it. Secret Agent Clank I actually do like because I do appreciate them trying to flesh out Clank with his own mechanics but even I can agree the game is drag especially over long periods. One thing I'm genuinely happy to say though is, it really doesn't get worse from here the R&C games are genuinely consistent going forward beyond this. The newer games do have elements people nitpick but IMO they're all fun.
@CassidyShadewing2 жыл бұрын
I feel bad for Secret Agent Clank; it has the potential to be a good game and complete spin-off franchise. At its core it does everything well, its just they seemed to stretch things out to make a short game longer; which made it suffer. I highly repsect them trying to do something different rather then 'same gam but smaller' like Size Matters. Like this could have been a sorta -Sly Cooper-esque game if it had been made natively for a console. It would have been fun, I think, to have the occasional SAC game peppered in as something to give the series a little bit of varity.
@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective2 жыл бұрын
@@CassidyShadewing Agreed. Like I genuinely like the fact they gave Clank his own adventure and more to a point tied it to Ratchet and Clank 3 in some form I just wish Insomniac kept the same brand of humour from the original trilogy going forward. Maybe it was the same thing here for these games, he kept getting included because the devs like working on his stuff. Also, I found a channel that has developer commentary from a couple guys who worked on the first 4 Ratchet and Clank games. Their GC playthrough was pretty interesting to listen to. I played size matters on psp when it came out. I remember it came out right when I was getting into the series and I enjoyed it alot. Replayed it alot due to its short length. Some years later I came back to it on ps3 and....wow I can't stomach a full playthrough anymore. Secret agent clank...I played the demo and that was enough to let me know I didn't want to play the full game. Look forward to your eventual ps3 ratchet trilogy reviews.

I remember how playing Size Matters on a friend's PSP blew my mind as a kid, Thanks to this game I became a fan and discovered other great Sony games so I'll always love it for this reason (Played it like 10 times and even made a crappy 2D remake)

Size Matters was the only (non-mobile) Ratchet and Clank game I didn't end up finishing

A ps2 version of Birth by Sleep would've me so happy in 2010. I was still with the ps2 as my main console.

Very excited for this one, since after Deadlocked, I didn't touch any of the games until the remake game, so this is entirely new territory for me!

Bless you friendly Rabbit if it cheers you up. It does get better after these 2, it gets a ton better. I don't consider the PS3 series as good as the PS2 series but they really are a blast to play.

That part with the plane in the field in Size Matters completely gated me out of the rest of the game as a kid. I just could not beat that damn part for whatever reason. I got frustrated and started the game over, hoping I’d be able to do it this time, but nope. Still never could beat her.

I'm surprised you actually like these spin offs especially the latter since I remember a lot of people saying Secret Agent Clank sucks.

Great video man and I do kind of agree with Size Matters, it is my least favorite of the games but I do still like it thanks to the interesting ideas like with the sniper mine actually doing something interesting with a sniping weapon thanks to the zoom function. It also helps that the armor system, collecting pieces of a set, giving you a perk is great. Secret Agent Clank on the other hand I do really like because they do some thing new for the series and I like the constant change in game play because I like all of them besides the rhythm game stuff. It's also cool to use your weapons as gadgets throughout the game making you feel like a spy.
