Star Fox 2 was technically remade but Command was more of a spiritual successor. Apart from Assault the Star Fox games are usually just enhancements of either Star Fox 1 or 2.

Correction: Star fox 1 and Stunt Race FX used the Super FX Chip at about 10 MHz Starfox 2 and Yoshi's Island both used the Super FX 2 chip. The FX1 chip was a 21MHz chip but there was a hardware speed clock limiter that made it run at 10 Mhz. The FX2 Chip is basically just the FX1 chip but without the clock limiter. Allowing it to run at the full 21 MHz it was capable of.

It's okay, I haven't played a few games like Hyperdimension Neptunia (otherwise known as NepNep by diehard fans), as it can be offputting at times. I couldn't play Senran Kagura due to a slowly dying PSP, which would make things difficult if I tried since that was a PSP exclusive at the time (that, and if I tried to play the 3DS entry I would've missed a good chunk of "lore" due to this handicap).

It's weird: Star Fox looks like something that's up my alley: An arcade-esq shooter that puts an emphasis on multiple playthroughs to improve your score and performance. It's why I love Sonic Generations, and the only Star Fox game I've played is the original. No, I have not played Star Fox 64. You can crucify me later. Personally, while the original Star Fox isn't a bad game, it was a little too slow for my liking. I'm sure the other games improve the speed, so I'll have to play the other games in order to get a better Star Fox experience.

John, i know you won´t read this,but in case you do i need to ask for a favor. Please, keep an open mind when you play Starfox Adventures. (Yes, i´m one of those schmucks that actually likes it) I know it´s not like a starfox game AT ALL, but it´s still a good adventure game. So many people hate it just for the fact that it´s not a space shooter (JONTRON!!), but just for the sake of giving it a fair chance don´t think of it as a Starfox game think. Aw yeah, Stairfax Temperatures appreciation thread! As weird as it sounds, I think Star Fox Adventures was my first Star Fox game way back when I was much younger. I remember really liking it a lot, and I was surprised to hear that so many people hated it once I got older. Sure it's not like... ANY other Star Fox game in the series, but it's not meant to be, and especially considering how popular OOT is, I'd think that the Zelda-esque adventure-y formula would be popular. I dunno, maybe that's just an excuse for a game that shouldn't be a Star Fox game but oh well.

I still think the ass-pull at the end was inexcusable mostly, and it was sad to see a lot of the original plot get cut, but we can blame that on Rare being bought out around the time it was being worked on. At least it's a trainwreck in gameplay, unlike certain rushed titles, so they put effort there.

Looking back the funny thing is that 2 is now available for Nintendo Switch Online. So Americans can legitimately play it for the latest Nintendo console. The frame rate can be a bit of an issue sometimes, but I love the strategy elements and ability to play as one of six characters, and even who to bring with you for advice.

I was really looking forward to this video and I'm really glad that you covered Star Fox 2. I used to be really into Star Fox, and when I first discovered the unreleased Star Fox 2, my mind was blown! I couldn't believe that something that was fixing to look like a really cool game was just dropped so close to completion! But it's nice to see that the pioneering of Star Fox 2 went on to appear in the later games: charging lasers, Star Wolf, All Range Mode. I'm sure when you get to Star Fox Command, you'll be able to relate a lot of similarities between Star Fox 2 and Star Fox Command. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
