Five months ago I ordered an XLT. The options I ordered were the AWD and tow package, and a passenger side cargo box in the bed. I took delivery two weeks ago. The truck came without the cargo box- because its back ordered, but the dealer told me Ford is delivering trucks without any ordered options that are dealer installable, rather than have customers wait for the truck because some rack, or amenity is in short supply. Thus far- the truck is perfect. It’s not too big, but comfortably seats 5 full grown adults when i need it to. The built in features for the XLT are well thought out and comprehensive. The under seat storage, and charging ports not to mention two 110 outlets are excellent, and the ability to carry 4 x 8 sheet goods with the tailgate in middle position is fantastic. Its powerful enough, zippy enough, and only cost 31K- and the dealer honored the sticker price because I ordered it. ( trucks they get in open stock they are selling with 2-4 grand tacked on ) All in all, the best truck I’ve seen on the market since the days of the 2004 Tacoma.

Is the cargo box easily user removable? It looks like it would block 4x8 sheets on the side that it is installed on.

@@Sembazuru I’m not sure as I haven’t got the box yet- and it absolutely would block a sheet of plywood. I can tell you that a sheet of 4x8 fits very snugly in the back with a quarter inch to spare on each side of the tailgate opening… as I just picked up some today, and the tailgate in mid position plus a 2X7 on edge and 2X4 flat that I placed across the molded in slots hold the sheet just fine. There are two anchors on each side of the truck adjacent to the tailgate- and the only place for the box to mount would be either on those rigid steel loops, or a hinge might replace the two loops on one side or the other- but I won’t know until I get the box. I would assume the box can be removed, but only when the tailgate is open- and the tailgate automatically locks whenever you lock the truck. However-I am not sure I even need the box at this point. Everything I was planning on storing in it turns out to fit easily under the rear seat with room to spare And that includes a first aid kit, 4 flares, 50 feet of 7mm rope, 4 bungee cords, a set of jumper cables, and 4 ratcheted tie down straps. The box might be useful for holding loose items that might otherwise roll around in the bed. But between the behind the rear seat, and under the rear seat storage areas, a sizable glovebox and center console, and some cubbies on and under the dash and in door storage- the truck has a lot more storage inside than my old crew cab Tacoma.

@@Johnnyscarcarereviews thanks! I have replaced maybe 3 alternators, two radiators. Biggest job was upper intake manifold gasket replacement. I also recently replaced all front end suspension. Ball joints, Tie rod ends, control arm bushings. Recently replaced all oxygen sensors and fuel injector spider. Had to get a ignition coil awhile back. Checked mpg and it was 17.5 last week. I was really surprised lol but I am ready for some better mpg and no more maintenance for awhile lol this maverick will push past the $30,000 mark I want to stay below but we will see. Thanks again

You're absolutely correct about add-on options effecting delivery dates. I was contacted by the Ford dealership last week where I ordered my Maverick in early July, they told me that having the Splash Guards add-on was delaying the Build Date. So I removed them and it's now scheduled to build. Good detailed video👍🏽

You are extremely kind. Thank you for your positivity. The very rare dealer might sell below MSRP but id focus on making sure to get all the internet rebates. The dealer cost vs msrp is very low on these models which is different from big equiped trucks. Also withbinventories being so low and Maverick allotments also being low id say a fair deal is to make sure they sign an offer promising Ford % rate as well now as well as signing thst you have the option to take the internet deal at time of delivery incase % goes down or rebates go up.

Great video! You mentioned the dealership would have to run electric from the front to wire for the trailer hitch - remember, the Maverick has 12 volt supplies available at the tail gate, so perhaps those could be used to reduce install time/expense of hitch install later.

The 12-volt charge line (higher current) for the 7-pin connector version would still need to be run back, but for the 4-pin that isn't a problem as long as the reverse wire is there already. When I used to deliver new box trucks & class C RVs out of Elhart, IN years ago I developed a set of clamp-on adaptors including a clamp-on hitch stinger so I could tow my '08 Ford Ranger with me, One gets to learn the wiring scheme for the big three and Freightliner in a heck of a hurry when your brake lights depend on it. I needed the +12 volt line as I needed to keep a small battery charged for my portable braking unit. Fortunately, the '08 Ranger had an electronic tow mode since it was 4x4, relieving me from having to disconnect the driveshaft.

We were excited to see that the hybrid version is flat-four towable so that will be the version we will be searching for. We are checking to see if the bracket for the tow bar will be the same as the Escape, that way no extra wait for Blue Ox or Roadmaster to produce them.

Good review...you seemed to have hit on all the points we discussed. We received our Carbonized Gray XLT with Luxury and Tow package 2 weeks ago. Very, very happy with it. I can't express how well it drives for a truck. Pretty quiet inside, smooth riding (for a truck) and due to its size, very maneuverable at speed. We installed a tri-fold Gator cover, so a note to those who do the same...the rail protector plastic extends past the metal rail lips on the inside of the bed, and since these types of covers us a clamp to hold them down in the front, you have to cut this plastic in order to reach the metal lip. The only issue I personally have with the truck is that with the XLT, you still have to actually insert and turn a key in order to start it. Thought that was pretty chintsy on Ford's behalf, especially when you consider the fob has remote start on it. We have a Ram 1500 to pull our heavy trailers, but the maverick will be perfect for our jet-ski's and smaller trailers.

Great videos, sir! I ordered my Black XLT Hybrid in August with the 360 Co-Pilot, 400W plug for the cabin, soft tonneau, spray in liner, moonroof and slash guards. In October I called the dealer and was told the tonneau, spray liner and splash guards were constraining my order. I had him remove them in order to be better positioned for a build. No build date yet, but patiently waiting.

Excellent video! I'm a long time Toyota hybrid fan. Toyota really missed the mark here by not offering a competitor. I think Toyota will lose quite a few customers when they move over to the Maverick. I'll switch as soon as the plug in is offered and look forward to the day, if it comes, thst we have aluminium Ion graphene layered sheet batteries that add 3 to 4 times the autonomy and charge 60x faster. If this occurs small 1 to 5kw batteries in a hybrid format could possible almost never need gas as they would recharge 100% everything we release the gas pedal for a short period of time.

Thinking about a Awd, Ecoboos, Area 51 or Oxford White. Don't really need a truck bed often so its competing with a Civic SI for me. 100% agree with your start, the lack of cruse control on the XL makes the XLT mandatory, everything else I could live without or upgrade later. EDIT: As far as damage goes, you can replace the rear fender panels on the bed. The truck bed also already has auxiliary power hood up standard for stuff like wiring harnesses or lights, little panel on the side next to where the optional cubbies go.

Well my xlt with fx4 package and moonroof got built and delivered 3 months after I placed my order. I highly recommend to get the moon roof. And fx4 and co360 yes its heated mirrors.

I know this is an older video. I ordered a Maverick December of last year, ordered a 2.0L Turbo XLT in carbonized gray, no copilot 360 (honestly hate all of those automatic stuff), and no lux package. I did order it with the full size spare, tow hitch, and spray-in bedliner. I received the Maverick in March of this year, and love it so far. Carbonized Gray is the color to get BTW, it matches the wheels and the painted grill bar perfectly. That's the color they used on those.

One thing I think ford needs to do is the bed light switch. I’d like to see an indicator on the dash showing it’s on. There’s no way to tell if your bed light is on when inside the vehicle. The only way to know, especially during the day is to get out and check. Or maybe a small led on the switch itself.

As a ford tech I can saw the cruise control i have added (all for f150's) was very easy just adding the button to the steering wheel and reprograming the pcm with electric throttle bodies no changes need to be made to the engine. I still have no idea yet if ford sells the buttons for the Maverick but i still thinking of a XLT.

The price point for all the trim levels is amazing. I'll be selling my 2015 Dodge Durango Citadel and it looks like it will mostly pay for the Maverick. I personally went with the Lariat + luxury package. Opted out of the moon roof to avoid further delays. I did buy the all weather mats at the dealership. Total bill was just under 32k. No other small truck let alone any other new vehicle on the market beats that sticker price with those options. I'm a Mopar car guy but this one won me over, still keeping the Challenger tho 😉. My delivery is estimated for February. Very excited for sure.

Until I felt the XLT seats and Lariat seats, I was going XLT Lux. I did not care for the XLT seats (felt rougher and stiffer than expected) and was way happier with ActiveX than expected. Lariat Lux all the way for me now.

The manager at the dealership I went to told me to go ahead and spec out/order what I want. No deposit down. When it comes in I can test drive it. If I don't like it, no problem. He was confident it would sell anyways. Truck was ordered and in the mean time I was able to test drive one at a different dealership. I'm confident I will be buying the truck I ordered. The interior cab space was really nice and comfortable.

I forgot to talk about that point. The bed cover slide out is cool BUT it has you loose box space and that is not cool for some like us. The SC has a hidden floor box cubby but that again is cool but could have been used for extra depth in box. For us the Maverick is a better fit and the Hybrids fuel economy is also an important factor. If I didn't have the Bronco and it was for me Ecoboost AWD 4K Luxury Lariat and FX4 and mag and tire option would have been it me thinks but her and I have different budgets. Also don't quote me but while the ecoboost is faster I think I recall it being more fuel efficient.

But personally I would never just buy a vehicle for fuel economy because with my monthly distance travelled I would not pick a vehicle solely because it does 20 or 30 dollars less in fuel per month but not being able to decide I would Crack out the calculator and find the exact monthly price difference in fuel based on 12000 miles.

Important!!! heads up...despite some major media sources saying it's "best" to take an ecoboost engine to tow 4k the Ford Order Guide says 4k towing is Non Applicable for a Hybrid engine. Also on the build and price it is impossible to take 4k with the 2.5l Hybrid. I'll provide photo evidence in my next Lariat build video.

It would be nice if they had the Electric Side Mirrors with Turn Signals on them that Fold In when the vehicle is Parked. I saw another review where they said the Maverick's Mirrors are plain. You have to roll your window down and set them by hand, and they also tend to get jerked out of place if you go over a Pot-Hole.

Great video, you pretty much hit all points that I wanted to know. My only advice would be to actually have the feature you are talking about on the left side because it was very confusing to see something on the left when you are talking about something totally different. I understand that you might have wanted some b roll on there to keep the video interesting but it was really irritating to be honest. The other suggestion would be to have a check list of all that you want to talk about in a video and check them off as you go so you dont repeat the same information multiple times. really great work.

Ferrer thank you for trusting me with your Dilemna. 1. You will have cruise with the XL as of 2023 (Ford present to us and shows they listen and care) 2. Skid plates are very inexpensive to add 3. You dont care about mags so... 4. GET the XL but expect to wait a little longer as it is constrained as it is the BEST VALUE ON THE MARKET by FAR!!! 5. If you start doing some offroad and find it a little rough swap the shocks and add a 2 inch lift. HAPPY TRAILS my new friend.

I'd suggest looking at the 2023 Fort Maverick order guide and making sure that the lariat with no extras is right for you. If so I think it's a great value because the interior with activists is really durable and rather nice. I think the delays on it should be too bad. I think the delays will look like those similar to an XLT. If your dealer does COVP procedure correctly then I'd suspect you should have a wait time of a rough 6 months.

Hi, I ordered my Maverick in late September. I got the base model and added the turbo engine, hitch ( not towing package) security system, tail gate lock, floor mats and the full size spare tire. Hi Scott. It's not too late to make the change and it won't affect your place in line. Your place in line is very much based on your dealer but if I have to read tea leaves I'd say chances are good that in February or March you get a build date and VIN, and then 30 to 45 days later you get built and then 15 to 30 days later it arrives at dealer

Not going to lie, this thing wasn't even on my radar as a replacement for my Crosstrek. I was looking at a Ranger but honestly wouldn't be doing much "truck" stuff. Daily driver with a need for a solid AWD or 4x4 for snow. Looking deeper into this Maverick may just be the ticket. I like the idea if having a bed but don't NEED a full size, or even midsize, truck. With the lower price point and better mileage compared to the Ranger this may just be what I go for.

Tough question but I have the answer. On the Canadian website it says spray in bedliner and hard drop in. On the American website it says drop in bedliner and in the details it explains "available with Lariat Lux package" and the hard drop in as not available with Lariat Luxury package. With information as well as the order guide I can 100% confirm that hard drop in is plastic and "drop in" is the spray in bedliner. Great question and have a great weekend. That could be true. I'm thinking off making the swap on Marie's order. Now the fact the Luxury packages actual order code changed by a letter making it easily swappable on an order in the system helps to add tonmy suspicion thst it could help speed things up.

I was hoping to go with a fairly basic, hybrid engined, Maverick, but as usual, Ford isn't allowing the option of cruise control on the XL so I will be going with the XLT. I am, however, NOT a fan of the pier grey upholstery and most definitely NOT a fan of the orange interior accenting. To me, the orange " bits " look like something done to appeal to very young drivers...about 10 years ago. They are bordering on " old school "/spray can customizing.

Howard I enjoy your comment. Yeah the orange is not for everyone. It might be a love or hate color as it flashes for sure. As for the grey blue maybe it will grow on you. I wasn't sure with the original photos and thought the Larait interior or XL was much more to my liking. Once I sat in the XLT a few times it grew on me and feels like an old pair of jeans. Comfortable and maybe not the flashiest like suit pants but just perfect for me.
