Fantastic narrated video of West Toronto. My sister and her husband live on HighPark. I use to go to HighPark park when I was smaller. Around the Bloor and Dundas area,there use to be a Towers Department store....long since gone You mentioned the crazy hospital which use to be at 999 Queen street west. I've never visited it but in the 60's you heard about this place, which was frightening back then. Great ride Johnny and Fantastic narrative. Hope to see more. Thanks Johnny for your time!

My mom used to refer to that hospital as the looney bin, although a name like that sure wouldn't fly today. Thanks for sharing and I didn't even know that about Towers, I'll look it up!

It’s a little dangerous, you can lose balance on the tracks and fall 7:41 :/

True but for the most part it's safe if you're prepared to deal with them properly.

What a ride my heart was in my hand in the beginning those cars was something else especially that car that swings in front of you then stopped but I can see you are a great rider I had a fun with you and the streetcar by the way how much do a streetcar holds ?? I see a lot of people getting on I laugh at the young fella who dash in and the old guy like he was cursing the people 🤣 great narrative vlog keep them coming 🥰

Thanks Denise! I'm quite comfortable riding in those conditions but I can see how some would find it unnerving for sure! Yeah, that guy was a bit of a hoot lol

I guess the next major public works projects are a subway line and improving the streets for bicycles.
@JohnnyStrides4 жыл бұрын
Sadly the subway will probably never happen (the relief line will not run along most of Queen/King West) but they can at least make it a transit priority corridor!

Is most of Toronto flat as a pancake?
@JohnnyStrides4 жыл бұрын
For the most part it is... at least south of Dupont Street (it does slope gently towards the lake).

It's a shame that motorcycle was parked vertically in your way at the start of the video.
@JohnnyStrides4 жыл бұрын
It was, although to be fair I'm not sure on the etiquette on that, perhaps that is the correct way to park the bike?

I’m liking the pov on this video lol nice vid Johnny Boy! Your narrated videos are really enjoyable to watch. Although I’m wondering if action Kid is your NY cousin ?? 🤔🤔HaHa
@JohnnyStrides4 жыл бұрын
ha thanks! He's not my cousin but I did get the idea for cycling videos and narrated vids off of him! I'm watching one of his narrated rides now and that GoPro Hero 8 he's using looks so damn good. It's just too wide of a view for this POV I use to work (too much arms in the shot) and I don't want to deal with cropping the image in post. He does a great job with just the helmet cam though!

The first part of this video seems like a dangerous ride, squeezed between streetcar tracks and potential opening car doors supplemented by bike lanes that are all of 60 feet long. Would not be my first route choice but appreciate the video!

Hmm, I thought in Canada one could ride a bicycle only on bike lanes , not along the edge of public roads
@JohnnyStrides4 жыл бұрын
Bicycles can't be ridden on certain roads (such as most highways) but for the most part you can ride on the street. In fact cyclists are able to take the entire lane if need be (as safety dictates) and are subject to the same traffic laws as cars. I stay to the right as a courtesy, as do most cyclists but we don't have to.
@navinchakra77174 жыл бұрын
Nice cycling video,can you do one at night

Unfortunately the GoPro and DJI Osmo Action are both pretty terrible in low light conditions on the bike. I've tried setting up the Osmo Pocket (which has a built in gimbal and can record at night well) but haven't been able to get it to work well enough (it doesn't handle vibrations in the road well at all). I'll see if I can figure it out.
