This same thing happened to my nephew several years ago in downtown Toronto. It was on a very busy street & luckily for him, bystanders called an ambulance as he was pretty beat up. After spending an afternoon being checked out at Emerg., they said he was very bruised & would be sore for awhile & also gave him some symptoms of concussion he should watch out for. As others have said, please get yourself checked out by your doctor or at an Emerg. because head injuries can show up later. Stay safe out there Johnny.

I have also taken a spill like yours when my bicycle wheel got stuck in a streetcar track. Lesson learned: best to ride perpendicular (90 degree) to the streetcar track. I avoid riding close to and parallel to the streetcar tracks.

I'm glad you're ok. We also have these street car tracks in the Netherlands in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and The Hague. I'm always wary when I bike there and have to make sure I always cross the tracks diagonally.

I skidded into a SUV in the middle of a bicycle blvd. Later my neck and left shoulder swelled so I went to ER. At first I didn't feel any pain. Then for months my collar bone was sore, my inguinal hernia popped more, and my right knee pain got worse. My brakes locked as I tried to stop, but a Force pushed me into that vehicle. It was weird.

I remember doing some trail riding couple years ago and somebody decided to cover the tree root with leaves. Luckily I wasn't going fast but ended wiping out and based on impact, a small sized branch went right through my helmet. Luckily my helmet had MIPS which stopped the branch piece and prevented it from going in even further. Still have the helmet for keepsake.

Man I felt that one. I'd be concerned about your neck too from what it looked like how you landed. Those streetcar tracks are killers if you don't ride over them right when running with them. I wiped out once on my ebike when I did a left turn and ran over those tracks on Richmond while it was raining. Thankfully my ebike was a moped style so I didn't touch the ground. Still, I always wore a helmet.

Glad you are OK! I remember vividly similar crashes. I no longer take roads with streetcar tracks on it. In one occasion, I hit the ground on Queen during rush hour and only 1 person asked if I was OK. The other time a taxi driver honked at me to get out of the way as I laid there. Only two ways to properly cross tracks imo is perpendicular or a bunny hop. .. anything else is up to chance. I have had the tire slide out from under me as you attempt to cut the track at an angle.

I just had the same thing happen to me last Sunday. Shallow angle across a streetcar track caught me. Queen West and Gore Vale Ave (Trinity Bellwoods). Thankfully I got off easy with just a right arm that's healing up. This video is hard to watch. Very relatable.
