I get what he's saying about how looking at it makes it less awkward down the road. I have a cousin that lives in another part of the country from me. I didn't meet her until she was in her twenties. I forget how old I was. She had a large scar on her forehead that I previously had not known about. It was very eye-catching, so I asked her about it. I didn't want to awkwardly stare at it and be nervous about asking. She told me that she got attacked by a dog when she was little. She told me the story in depth. After that I barely even notice the scar, and often forgot she even had it.
