He's the wealthiest idol in Korea and he also wrote the most songs out of all the K-pop stars, he has almost 200 songs under his belt as a songwriter/lyricist. He was one of the first idols to shatter the "manufactured Kpop idol" image of dancing dolls, by proving that Kpop artists are capable of composing. He was even named one of the best Korean composers in 2008. He has a lot of solo songs too but I think his best compositions are songs he wrote for his group, Bigbang. Check out Lies from Bigbang, that's on eof GD's most well known compositions, and the song that propelled Bigbang to King status in Kpop. before BTS became big, Bigbang were the OG idols who ruled the world, they had the largest Kpop tour with over 1 million audience worldwide in 2012 and filled stadiums in Europe and the US before BTS were even a thing...

There are lots of Korean wordplay, so some lines of lyrics might feel awkward, These are some clues that you can understand the song more. 88: GD's birthday is 8. 18. 1988, So he puts his own meaning on the number 8. That's why he wrote so many 8s in his lyrics. You can see the Metro map in the MV. it's a track-list of his up coming album, there are 8 tracks. The last line of lyrics "Fly high": The original Korean lyrics' pronunciation is "Pal Pal Nara" (Means fly high). There is a wordplay as well, 'Pal' is 8, same pronunciation, and 'Pal Pal' is kind of onomatopoeia, 'Nara' is Flying, so this line was translated flying high in English. And that's why the ending scene shows 8 8 (Pal Pal) and GD jumps (Flying) (Nara) The meaning the wordplay of the lyric "Spot to rest, a Global Luxury": The original Korean Lyric is this, 누울 자리 글로벌 명품 "Nu ul Jari, Global Myong pum (Glo / bal myong pum)" In here, Glo means text, lyrics, writings, everything about word or text. There is another must see performance from BigBang members G-Dragon & Taeyang, but from the MAMA awards, (Mnet Asian Music Awards) from the yr 2014. 🔥❣GD x Taeyang - Good Boy with English subtitle (Complete Version) by channel D CYK. This is the one that shows BTS who looked up to, idolized, been inspired & influenced by BigBang as well as individual members while growing up, like many others, were in the audience in the area in front where the other performing idols groups sit.! BigBang who debuted in 2006 are 2nd generation Kpop idols as opposed to groups like BTS who debuted in 2013 are 3rd generation. This is where GD does an amazing rap performance beforehand, which is why I chose a vid from channel D CYK since it’s the only one, that had the ever so important eng subs, where ❣🔥GD (G-Dragon) is actually shading the very award show as well as others that always give the same idols from the same big companies awards, not giving others a chance. GD performed this although BigBang as well as the members were the ones who always win most of those awards back then, but he still wanted to speak out in spite of it about all the corruption in the industry back then. Which was one of the reason groups from smaller companies without connections or money had quite hard if not impossible to break through. BTS being one of those groups. GD & Taeyang actually performed a quite short version of Fantastic Baby in the end, normally a song from BIGBANG as a whole, but I thought seeing a vid that has the Eng subs for GD’s rap in the beginning was the priority! 👍🙏❤‍🔥🔥😍🤩🔥💫✨

That line, “Prove em all wrong got all the receipts.” Is referring to a scandal which occurred last year where G Dragon was accused of drug abuse. Although he denied it from the beginning there was a lot of public criticism before he was eventually found to be completely innocent. I guess it was easy to point fingers at G Dragon since there were other members of Big Bang that did some VERY bad things. But I think this track is a clap back at all those people who just assumed he was guilty.
