My favorite thing about their incredible choreography is that it's THEIRS. They do their own choreography and have ever since they began. AG are truly special.

So glad the girls are getting a chance at a wider audience in the US. They really deserve it. Tokyo Calling is definitely the perfect song to use for a US TV show performance.

Watched their recent performance at a Japanese music festival. By the end of it Suzuka was *sprinting* through a Taylor Swift-sized crowd while singing. Security and a cameraman were struggling to keep up, lol.

Suggest you watch some of the videos from the recent US tour. They were all great interactions with the crowds. Suzuka went nuts hoping off stages, standing on fence railings, going to the balcony areas, and moving through the crowds. She definitely knows how to work the crowd and get them involved in the music. Definitely worth your time.

I saw them in D.C. last month and all I can say is that they exceeded any expectations I had. They truly are extremely special. Stage presence is off the charts. Extremely entertaining and hilarious. They interact with the crowd the whole time. Especially Suzuka. She was all over the venue at one point from the front, to the back, and both sides. A must see live group for sure!

100% agree! I was at that same show. Of all the live I've ever seen from Concerts big and small, Cirque Du Soleil, musicals, operas, pro wrestling events, etc. these ladies are absolutely in the very top tier when it comes to putting on a great performance. You get it all with them. You get perfect choreography, you get great singing, a mix of musical genres, and genuinely great showmanship! These 4 ladies always look like they are having the time of their lives and they know how to make the audience share in that experience!

glad you liked it! their live performances are amazing! they love interacting w the crowd. Suzuka, especially, does it all the time; you often see her jumping into the arena during concerts, or having one-on-one interactions w fans during smaller concerts. hope you can do a reaction to one of their concerts some time! their energy and dance is seriously so amazing!
I hope this will open the Late Shows doors to more japanese artists - I would love to see Band-Maid, Hanabie or (and!) Hitsujibungaku there! Atarashii Gakko! are extremely good live and it's no surprise: they're doing it since they were 14, they're a real war machine! Thank you for the enthusiastic reaction!

I only just heard of them watching this performance on Jimmy Kimmel's. I was totally blown away by the choreography. For one girl groups whether upon or Kpop that I know of, ever done choreography that is somewhat not "graceful" so to speak, the dance moves often looks like they could be posing for a photo at any moment. But But this group actually had a choreography that is so fitting to that eerie and kind of creepy slow chanting part of it. Not to mention their heights are so not uniform and they have this even number of member but one that's about a foot taller than the rest and still able to make it really work. I also like when they stand in one line. we've seen those synchronised dancing but they seldom have that varying speed to create that sudden slow mo effect. Also the part where all 3 froze and the tall one moved, all these becomes sort of like special effect to the visual of the music, instead of constantly dancing and then posing in different ways when they aren't dancing. And I agree the part where they go to the audience is so great, not to mention its so fitting too, because its the part where it becomes uplifting and the lyrics goes "we are marching", so they are sort of leading the audience to the march. I just think everything is so thoughtful.

I just discovered this band a few days ago and I'm also so excited for them. So refreshing, it's like anime in real life+ some gaming theme and so nice choreography and moves! Most importantly they look real themselves and they seem to enjoy it!

They are absolutely amazing live! I was at their Seishun Tour stop in Torontoa couple months ago and the whole place was completely lit. They had every person there completely engaged in their performance. Plus, Suzuka is a rock star in the classic sense. She LOVES the energy that she gets from the crowd and likes to get off stage and get out into the audience whenever possible. The episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live that this performance aired on had Adam Levine as the first guest of the show. Jimmy played a clip from 25 years ago where teen aged Adam attempted to crowd surf and it went poorly for him, and he said he never tried it again after that. Suzuka on the other had, even at massive venues has jumped of stage and crowd surfed (while still singing) and gotten into the audience. At every stop on their North American tour Suzuka got off stage and out into the crowd at one point. Plus they did a bit at each show where Suzuka lost her shoe (kicked it off and it flew into the audience) and only at the San Fransisco show some creep kept it and they didn't get it back. During the song Nai Nai Nai she climbed onto the bar at the venue in New York, onto the DJ Booth at another show, went up into the Balcony a few times at other stops. And it's not just Suzuka either. While Suzuka is off somewhere in the crowd, Mizyu, Rin, and Kanon are working the front few rows with high fives, and taking selfies with peoples phones, holding up people's signs, and whatnot. These ladies are 100% entertainers. They involve the audience as much as they can. Even when they are just on stage, they are looking right at the audience most of the time. 100% recommend to anyone if Atarashii Gakko is doing a show near you, go! They put on one hell of a good show live!

If anything, as a half Japanese guy, I am happy just to see something that is extremely culturally Japanese on American live TV....However, the song rocks, the choreography rocks, their energy rocks.... I usually pass all these boy/girl bands as they usually sell beauty/sexuality and bla bla bla (nothing wrong with that), not exactly music, the girls in AG however are beautiful but also talented/unique and they do look "real" not fabricated....You gotta love them....

Powerful lyrics with a message too!
