Jin had surgery on his fingures before they went to Grammys and Las Vegas .. he was not suppose to do too much dancing so he had to sit in a chair .. DNA possibly one of my favourite BTS songs .. I love watching the whole experience with you 👍👍👍💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰 by the way Jin didn't stay in the chair as he was suppose to .. he got up and participated in most of the songs👍👍👍

Yeah, Jimin’s shirt was see-through 😳 He KILLED us…😂 Jin fractured a finger, and required surgery - so he had a splint on to protect the fracture and surgery, and was advised not to do any choreo in case it re-injured his hand. He did get up and dance a little, but he sat out the formal choreo (even at the Grammy’s, you will see him mostly seated during the performance, except the last part). I think this was for a good six weeks. 💜💜

@@JohnReavesLive he fractured and dislocated one of his fingers and it needed to be surgically pinned. I’m pretty sure he would have had the best ortho surgeon in Korea to do the op, and I also think he would have had any rehab/OT needed after the splint was off, to get full movement back. So I’m optimistic it won’t have interfered with his activities, long term 🙏 💜💜 Jin has always had rather lax joints, and he showed us a few times with his fingers - before the injury. This may have made him more prone to such an injury tho. He wasn’t an habitual pianist like Yoongi, I know he learned the piece for Epiphany, and as far as I know, he played kinda off and on otherwise. So I don’t know if he is still playing right now, but I would think that, physically, he is able to - he can be a very determined man. 💜🥰

It's really interesting how when they release a single, they perform it dozens of times, with perfect choreography and different outfits that fit the song concept... It's intense and hype. But, when they perform those same songs, years later, as part of a different era, they often add them to medleys or perform them in a much more lose way, while walking around the stage, to interact (have fun) with the crowd or joke between themselves or to "rest" (in between the current singles that they will do more "professionally"). It's interesting how you can perform the same song with different intent and make different types of performances engaging.

Same happened at BOTH of there appearances at Billboard music awards. ARMY filled the building and chanted their names during commercial breaks. Quite the welcome to America for the guys. Unfortunately, Jin has had several instances where he had injured one or more his fingers from everyday activities and to performing the intense choreo as seen here in this live clip. He had gotten this injury while practicing the Grammy choreo. That's why they had to change the way they danced at the Grammy Award show and he had to under go surgery this time. Jin, I believe was born with a hyperextension deformity in his finger joints which is known as Swan Neck Deformity. The name comes from how one is unable to fully extend/straighten out their fingers, which makes one's fingers look similar to a Swan's neck in appearance. This condition happens in most cases cause a weakness or tearing of a ligament on the palm side of the middle joint of the finger. In other circumstances it occurs due to a tearing of the tendon that flexes the middle joint as well which, the tendon that straightens the end joint is unable to do so properly. This deformity can also be associated and caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis too. The only cure for this is PT or major surgery to correct this medical condition fully or one has to be more mindful to not injure one's self since they are more susceptible due to this deformity. I first noticed this condition in Jin's fingers in how he holds his Mic sometimes and in sum pictures as well. He is self conscious of how his fingers appear tho. I remember when he was asked in a interview once, if he could trade a body part with one other member who and what would it be? He had stated that he thinks his hands and fingers are ugly and wishes he could have Jimin's cute and small hands instead lol. I myself is double jointed and have hyper extension in all of my joints as well. So my fingers are similar to Jin's and I can even pop out my hip joint too. I often get dislocations in my shoulder and elbows just by putting on clothes and even my jaw when eating, which is very painful and annoying. Especially, if I'm enjoying my meal cause once it starts popping out it won't stop and I have to stop eating the food. 😰😫😡

yes jimin shirt was see through during the live performance lol...jin hurt his hand so he couldnt perform with them..he had a cast on his right hand. the doctor and the company said jin couldnt dance because he hurt his hand so he had to sit in the chair but there were parts he could perform in the concert and the guys always went to jin and was being silly with him on stage.

DNA whistle is so iconic, the second I hear it is just instant excitement. The harmonies in this song are so incredible. And the choreo is very interactive. Multiple times the members high five or link hands to make make a connection. It’s so satisfying to watch. Also I wouldn’t say they never use greens screen, but they don’t use it much. Like Fake Love is all real but most people believed it wasn’t because it seemed too intense to be real. Also Jin wasn’t allowed to do the choreo during Las Vegas PTD shows because he had a hand injury. They didn’t want him to strain it and make it worse. However, Jin being Jin still snuck into the choreography sometimes when no one was looking. You would just see a figure in the back of the cameras doing the Intense choreography in tiny small movements. It was fun to watch in person! Thankfully he’s better now! Fun Fact: They performed Blue & Grey after this 😭

Jin had a finger surgery during their Las Vegas concert & during their performance at The Grammys. He was advised to limit his dancing/movements but sometimes he would join the group in some of their dance choreo.

@@JohnReavesLive he injured his left index finger while doing his daily activity. The tendons in his finger had been partially damaged and needed to be repair. This isn' the first time Jin injured his finger. He injured his finger too back in 2015 or 2016. It was reported years back that Jin has hyper mobility or hypermobile fingers. If you observe closely Jin's fingers are crooked when he stretched them. There are pictures of him showing his crooked fingers especially when he waves or doing v sign.

When I see the beginning of the mv I have to catch myself because I think it’s Boy With Love because of the colours. Then I hear that iconic whistle from Jungkook and away we go. This has such a tight choreo. They did well to do the double helix part without Jin. He injured his hand so had to have an op on the ligaments. His swan neck fingers make getting such injuries a hazard of his normal life. He taped over the cast with different colours and patterns. I loved Yoongi and V shouting out, “J-Hope!” It’s fun watching them react to themselves. They take no prisoners and send each other up mercilessly but also give out supportive comments. True brotherly love. I can’t believe you haven’t watched, ‘Dope’, yet. You can’t watch House of Army until you’ve seen that. In fact get Megan to check you’ve watched all the necessary mvs mentioned in that so you can enjoy it to the full before you watch it. Great reaction as always, thanks, John.

Sir John, I got to see their concert on their last night at Las Vegas. Even sitting at the 200 level, you can feel their energy from the stage reach all the way to the nosebleeds section. I was fortunate enough to to be able to see them in Vegas and it was incredible! Hands down the best concert I’ve been to. I was all the way in the highest section of the stadium but that didn’t matter. The energy is unmatched!!

The live version Jin was injured and in what I think of as the “timeout chair” whenever someone has an injury they get out yo the dude of stage to be there but out of the way a bit. It’s always horribly frustrating to whichever one it happens to but they try to involve them more. Jin had hand surgery and any thing hitting it would have caused him to need surgery again so he had the big hand brace covered with an outfit matching wrap. He gave up sitting and just kept dancing anyhow. And yes they had some see through shirts it was quite ….. memorable to Army we barely survived.

Honestly, you're such a great reactor. I love how much attention you pay to the whole package of a single song such as the lyrics, MV, dance practices, and live performances. Some ARMYs say the lyrics is based on Carl Jung's Synchronicity theory because their album Map of the Soul is based on the Jungian concept. I do understand where they were getting at. But in the end, I think this is simply a sincere love song to us ARMYs.

I saw this concert to. It was in LA. Also, Jin’s left hand washing injured somehow (I don’t recall what happened) but if you watch them do Butter at the 2021 Grammys, but Jin is injured at that time as well and they cleverly made him a part if the performance. A must see, I think.

The thing with Jins hand...shortly before the left to come to perform at the Grammys, which was just before the Vegas concert series, he hurt his finger and had to have surgery. That's why he was sitting instead of dancing.

They DO use green screen and CGI but as a rule of thumb, if it can actually be built/done that's probably what they did. I think the fact that Bang PD majored in aesthetics accounts for a lot of the artistic choices in their mvs. If you haven't seen the behind the scene Bangtan Bomb of Fake Love, you should. It's quite fascinating. Also, this was definitely from their Las Vegas concerts shortly after the Grammys because Jin wasn't injured yet in LA. His injury also meant they had to change the Grammy performance but it actually made for an even cooler show imo. Jin however was quite devastated and said he felt like a burden to the team, his statement promptly earning him both a verbal and a very litteral kick in the butt from V! 😂

Thanks for this reaction John. I love this song and fun fact this is the first song they performed on American tv during the 2017 AMA’s. Don’t know if you noticed but that whistle part of the song is at the beginning of each Rise of Bangtan episode. And Jin injuries his finger and had to get surgery for it, so it was wrapped up and he danced as much as he could but for most of the songs that had choreography he sat to the side

For the Busan concert, we might get clues to the set list closer to the concert, as BTS will sometimes release snippets of their soundcheck/rehearsals in the lead up. It’s hard to know what songs they’ll do compared to what songs we HOPE they’ll do (I’m looking at you Run BTS). I think it might be a good idea for you to schedule a reaction to Ma City. Both Jimin & Jung Kook are from Busan, and Busan is mentioned in the lyrics so I think there’s a good chance they’ll perform it. Of course, it’s pure speculation on my part but I think it’s a great song you would most likely enjoy anyway so it’s worth a listen.

Yes! I would agree, I have yet to watch anything they put out where I’m thinking “ wow, that (member) is lacking” there’s no weak link tha5 pulls them down. All seven are determined not to settle for less than perfection. I think it’s rare that a group that size has no weak link AND also has the same dream, same determination💜 Also when they do their older songs at more recent concerts, like this live, they tend to play around more. Probably since they’ve done the choreo so much they know army will still love it. Imo anyway

Yes, see through top under the jacket (Jimin...and I think a few others). If nothing else, it may be because they get so hot with those jackets on. You could see the holy water pouring off JK especially in this. This was Las Vegas Permission to Dance concerts (4 sold out nights). Jin hurt his hand like on the 2nd day of rehearsal for the Grammy's and had to have surgery. He was still in a cast and unable to do most of the choreos for fear of re-injuring and needing additional surgery. One of my favorites and that Live Performance was fire!

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Yes, JK did the whistle for it. They mentioned it somewhere interview or behind the scenes i can't remember were. Sorry. This one is more pop compared to their previous songs i think. This song got them noticed in USA. They got invited to interviews here and they performed this one here as well. Hope u watch all the live stages. DNA is a bop for sure. Thanks for checking out the dance practice. They are fab!!! By the way their DNA chain dance move was used by another dance crew in World of Dance. When I saw this MV i was blown away. 0.0 i was like wait wait i know that move, lol. Love DNA! Umm, it might not be deep to u but their love for Army is dang deep to army. Like they saying they are our soulmates and they are each other soulmates!!! Gosh i can't i am mush! They so sweet! We just got a demo version of this song on their new anthology album its sung by one of the members and i hear its very different than this one. I am excited to hear it. They slay in this genre. Love their songs. To me its we are all connected by DNA. That army and BTS are connected. It's a beautiful thing this bond. DNA camera work was reused in Suga's Shadow and in JHope's More MVs. BTS does not use green screen often. That is true. Some army spread misinformation that its never used. Shrugs. Great u saw the making off. Loved seeing u watch their reaction to their own MV. They so fun! The Permission to Dance (PTD) concerts were in LA, Korea and LV. They did more or less the same set list they just changed some of the encore songs. I think it was 22-24 songs. Something like that. LA was 3 days and same for Korea. LV was 4 days. All sold out of course. We had live viewing online for one day. And we had live viewing for Korea one day in theaters. I got to watch with army it was so fun. So Jin hurt his finger somehow. He had more than one surgery on it to fix the issue. Ouch. It was painful so he sat out this performance because of the injury. That was one of the last presentations, when Jin hurt his hand. At the Gramies he has to be sat too. He felt so bad for doing this (he wasn't the first, JK and V had to sit when they got hurt too), when Hobi praised him, he call himself a burden... ooohh How can we tell me how good he is??? Who we love is in our DNA (or given "destiny" if you want to use a religous interpretation of it). And yet human societies creates stern and strict rules about who we can or can not love. Love is a natural thing and possible for all of us, so we should do our best holding on to it if a match "crosses our path". It makes me sad that this colourfull message does not land properly in many corners of the globe. But it makes me very happy when theese clever young men using their power by advocating for it in a suttle and well balanced way. For me this colourful song is a rainbow song and sometimes I get disapointed at ARMY not pushing harder for LBTQ-rights: BTS has been on it since the LY-era in lyrics, speaches, V-live and IG-post. ARMY has power and could knudge the world in the right direction. Open your hearts folks and thank you BTS!

Facts! If you watch some Rap artist out there they have their music and vocal tracks on the same backing track so they are literally just singing over their own album essentially with bts it feels different I'd love to see what their live mix consist of

I think ARMY forgot to tell you about the rock version of DNA when you prepared for this. The crunch guitars has a similar vibe to your intro. There are a few videos of this version floating around KZbin. BTS's BangtanTV has it, look for "Pedal 2 LA", which might be the best one to react to, it's only a static screen. There's also a live stage of the rock version on SBS World TV channel, but I'm not sure if they might block you.

I tried getting that sweater that J-Hope wears in the music video but after seeing that it was from Gucci (I believe) I couldn't afford it 😅 so I ended up buying my bias wreckers sweater; Suga's. It's red with white letters that reads LOVED. It's my favorite I love it so much.

It’s not that they don’t use green screen or cgi, it’s that if they can achieve the same impact with a practical effect then they do it. The great example is Fake Love where they actually dropped pieces of the floor out behind Jungkook, actually flooded the room Jimin was in, and actually set Suga’s room on fire. But Idol and Dynamite both used green screen, although I watched BTS’ reaction video to the Dynamite video and the part at the key change, when the cartoon fireworks shoot up behind them; one of the members said they tried to use real fireworks for that part but it didn’t look as good. And he was probably joking, but I believed him.

Oh you picked the live version in PTD Las Vegas when Jin had injured his index finger and had a surgery to fix it. Hence, he's sitting with a bandage/cast to not move the finger and avoid further damage, but as you can see he's still doing those little helix move he's supposed to do w/ Tae. 🧬 Anyway, yeah DNA is that one very catchy song and I feel like I'm fluent in korean when this song plays. LOL Please do the Dope Reaction, it's one of my faves from their discography - it's freakin DOPE! 🤣

But if you listen to the albums in order it becomes a masterpiece in storytelling. The live performance you watched is from the Permission to Dance on Stage concerts and Jin injured his hand at that time. The whole thing was in a cast and because of that he couldn't participate in choreo.

The most unexpected thing I found out recently is that JK did the whistle used throughout the song! DNA is BTS’s first all out pop song. Before DNA, I’d say BTS’ catalogue is still a bit more on the unconventional side. DNA lyrics almost seems surface level, but it makes sense being the first of the “Love Yourself” trilogy which is about the early stages of love, before heartbreaks and self-discovery. - Regarding Jin, he hurt his hand while preparing for 2022 Vegas concerts so he had to sit out for most of all 4 shows. For songs that didn’t have choreography, Jin was able to perform with the rest of the guys. But choreography heavy songs, it just wasn’t possible for him to dance while mic in one hand and cast in the other. I went to both LA and Vegas shows so I feel so lucky!
