The Dreamcast's logo is a blue swirl in Europe because the orange swirl would infringe on a preëxisting trademark by the German publisher Tivola. (It's a similar reason to why the Mega Drive is called the Genesis in North America.)

Glad you had a great time in my motherland John. The quirky differences between PAL & NTSC are so funny sometimes. Did you notice the Palcom version of TMNT was actually called Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles? Back in the day the word "Ninja" was deemed too violent over here, so they renamed everything HERO Turtles. Even the cartoon! Anyway great video 👍👍👍

Great video John and it was nice to have a chat. You even managed to check our some of our old 80's microcomputers, including the not so small BBC Micro (small when compared to earlier computers that were the size of large fridges). If you'd been a school kid in the 80's the BBC Micro would have been the machine that you first learn about computers on but it also had a some pretty decent arcade games too (Snapper - Pacman, Hopper - Frogger, Planetoid - Defender, Meteors - Asteroids). Glad you had a good time.

Cool. My Mum was born in Norwich. But the first time she saw a Nintendo game was when us kids were young in the 80s. Mario music used to drive her crazy so she made a rule that Nintendo games are like kids. They should be seen but not heard. Cheers from Canada :-)

The Pepsi did taste better. You had one of the 36grams of sugar cans. They've just destroyed the UK pepsi by slashing 57% of the sugar out of it and adding sweeteners to it and it tastes vile. If you're still in the country. Try find one on the ingredients that says 15grams of sugar.

I'm curious, which one of the consoles in the 90s worked well in the UK? For instance of course we know the NES and SNES, and PS1 were kings in the 90s in North America. I wonder if for example the Mega Drive in the UK worked better than the Genesis in the US (not to say that the Genesis in the US / Canada didn't "work well" I mean, just wasn't as popular in general as the SNES). I know for instance that the Saturn was _very_ popular in Japan, how about UK? Did the Master System do any better there than the NES? I never really checked into that for the UK (or the European market in general).

Its too bad Nintendo divided the PAL region in A and B. UK hade PAL A, so we in Scandinavia could not play those games on non modified hardware as we had PAL B. Other things were similar though, like the whole European anti ninja craze changing TMNT to TMHT (H=Hero) and Ninja Gaiden becoming Shadow Warriors. The 90's were awesome, but governments went to so many extremes regarding content. In Sweden both Power Rangers and Darkwing Duck were banned as TV shows after a while because they were deemed 'too violent'.
