Milo 2 On Test Part 10 - Heading For The Rough Stuff - Built Not Bought - 40 Series - Roothy

AT LAST! Having had a big cook up the night before at the Bendelby Ranges shearer's quarters in part 10 my traveling mates - 'SMART' Richard and Simon in the JK Jeep, Paul 'MrLandcruiser' Reid in his 2H 47 Series and my lovely new Milo 2 - finally get to head for the rough stuff and play in the ranges to the far east of the homestead.
Get a load of some magnificent views as we look down off the ranges where with crystal clear skies you can almost see the curve in the earth. We've decided to take on the Billy Goat Track but first we have to get to the kick off point located way over on the fenceline.
It's rocky and it's rough but for high clearance vehicles it's not that tough. Not yet anyway. Plenty of discussion on how to deal with sharp rocks because these so called 'Hungry Ranges' sure do like to eat tyres! Before long we've reached the fenceline and we've got something to follow to make sure we get to the bottom of Billy Goat Track.
What to expect? A nice warm up and a trip through some beautiful Flinders Ranges' country because the BIG ONE is yet to come! The things we've heard about Billy Goat suggest it isn't that it's particularly tough to drive, it's that the consequences of getting it wrong are horrible.
So it all comes back to building trust and understanding in your truck which is what this Milo2 testing series has been all about. First there were the long distance highway miles to bed everything in, then some easy track work to settle the suspension, the sand hills on the Border Track to get a feel for the power and gearing and now, well, you'll have to wait and see!

Bugger you Roothy. Here i am, almost midnight, in Benalla, working away from home and cant sleep in another motel, and these vids arent helping. Put a warning up about being addictive will you. Mind you, i have decided to head back home the back way through Jamison along the Goulburn river, back to my place near Walhalla. Just to get my fix of gravel after watching another great vid.
