Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2021, and I return at least $121k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.

@Johnsmoneyadventures that decision favors SCHD. It seems like you are being too conservative. The whole strategy of JEPQ is to generate income with some upside growth. You should have kept the yield around 9% imo. Right now it's at 12% I believe.

You nerfed JEPQ's dividend by almost half in the final calculation. If you wanted to be conservative with the calculation, why not pick something like 7%? I don't think it's yielded less than 8% in its short history. Doesn't seem very fair. Yes, it has a short history, but it's what we have. Maybe you could have provided differing projections. Something else to add to your calculation would be taxes since JEPQ has an unqualified dividend vs SCHD's qualified dividend.

Only problem is with SCHD. If we go into a ressession. The big stocks where they base the fund off get whacked hard. So depending how long the economy is down.... that etf can get whacked HARD. Their not boosting the dividned 11% in bad times. That where Jepq may whack schd ...their both gambles.

Using an 11% dividend growth is not reasonable. Looking at your spreadsheet, you are seeing 7% yields after 30 years because your growth is outpacing the capital appreciation. That is not going to happen.
@pizzaeater84034 ай бұрын
I completely agree. I do think it’s too early to measure JEPQ performance long term. SCHD has only been 13 years, but I agree 11% CAGR is not going to last. SCHD was developed as the market was bouncing back after 2008. therefore, I think a more reasonable long term CAGR will be closer to 8%. Though, with its recent change kicking out Merck and Broadcom who knows. As long as the algorithm keeps working, I’ll keep investing in SCHD. If JEPQ is paying high dividends 20 years from now when I plan on retiring, I won’t need price appreciation or growth, I’ll need income and that’s when I’d be interested in JEPQ.
@marcosdepaula3172Ай бұрын
Be careful with the assumptions about the next 10 yrs, they may not be like the previous 10 yrs. Things change, the market changes and the industry changes. Believe it or not, a well placed 10 yr bond latter strategy may perform better based on the fact that interest rates may fluctuate before going back down to near 0%, as the market yields go down, you may be able to capture most of the 10 gains in on to two years as those bonds appreciate in value. By then the equities market may have suffered a well place correction and then you can sell those bonds and get back into equities at a discount. I could be completely wrong, but even if that is the case, you'd still collect a solid 4.3% guaranteed interest income yearly without any risk.
@russellbee31129 күн бұрын
You lowered JEPQ numbers to make it look worse. Use the last 2 years numbers and it is a clear win.

Cutting jepq to a 5% yield, is not a fare race. Even a 2% yield more would completely change the monthly/ anual returns. If you take a total return since inception jepq is outperforming schd, in theory will end up in 20-30y with more returns.
