John Robson Guitarist This instrument was originally used for Dixieland Jazz because it goes back to the days before we had amplification & Guitarists needed to compete w/ them Blazing loud horns.

Remo weatherking heads are the industry standard. 24 tension hooks help to put even tension on the head. 24 hooks and nut are the amount found on a standard mastertone (Gibson) style banjo. I really enjoy your vids on theory thanks for all you do!☺

Thanks mate... Great info. Next video has a fair bit of theory: Everything You Wanted To Know About The Pentatonic Scale But Were Afraid To Ask 😁

Looks good. I used to have a banjo, wish I'd kept it. Might see if one of these fulfils my folky needs

I've always heard the 6 string Banjo referred to as the "Chicago style Banjo". 🍁

I wonder if I was the only one who went "Yeee-Haaar !!" at the end of the playing part? 😆 Banjos aren't really my cup of tea but it looks like a nice instrument, and as per usual from Harley Benton, great value for your £140. 👍

Great review, John - thanks. Next, rope in a friend and recreate the famous 'dueling banjos' scene from Deliverance (and god forbid any shotgun-brandishing hillbillies show up and order you to "Squeal like a hawg!!!")

Cheers... Yes I do most of my own set ups (never had a go at a refret yet). Here's some tips... kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGSXnWl7eLWnkKs Get yourself a cheap (sub £100) guitar & have a go, it's not as difficult as you might imagine.

When I saw the caption "Banjitar" I thought maybe you were checking the time to much since you last video. But it is very interesting I must say. Did you buy the banjo because it is a serious instrument in Irish traditional music.and an Irish man donated it to the channel?
@JRobsonGuitar5 жыл бұрын
I got it because I was curious, basically. I remember Joe Satriani used one on a track from his Flying In A Blue Dream album & wondered about getting one ever since. Then when the chap offered to buy a guitar for the charity, everything else I fancied was out of stock so I decided to scratch the banjitar itch 😁

On pretty much ever banjo I've seen, the Remo Weather King seems to be the head of choice, not sure if it's an Ambassador or Diplomat, but I'm sure the Ambassador would be a good all around choice. I dont know anything about banjos, but, I'm a pro drummer and drum tech, and Remo heads are industry standard. Great video as always, this looks like a fun instrument to play, good for another voice to. Thanks John!

If you demo an instrument it's better not to bury its sound in heavy backing tracks IMO
