What I love about your channel is that you don't obsess about the size. That's rather discouraging for people like me who love plants but cannot have it as a career. I am sure we all do our best and have some great plants, but cannot aspire to vast, and perfect collections that the professionals have. I, BTW, rescue and run a beautiful home for dogs in need. As in abandoned, abused, surrendered pets, and strays who because of age, chronic illnesses, or having become maimed from accidents or having been subjected to human tormentors can no longer survive on the roads. We have lovely flowering plants there too. I digress, but thank you for being attainable.

The Anthurium you first showed, is an Anthurium Clarinervium. One my absolute favourite plants. I have one in my bedroom, which is a north facing room. It has done so well for me, never complained or shown any issues. Loved it so much, I got a second one! I get flowers from my first plant in summer time, and even new leaves! I have only just got my second one a few months back, so will see if it behaves the same way. I believe humidity wise, my environment is perfect for them, as I’m in Cornwall. So we do have a humid and semi-tropical climate. I do have other plants that I do supplement with grow lights, which are by Sansi. They are a great brand. The majority of my plants are more or the shade tolerant kind, but I have noticed them doing better with the grow lights I have gotten. Thanks for the plant tour! Love your videos! Keep up the good work!

Love the tours! Note on watering: keeping in mind that most house plants are tropical or subtropical, I've found that watering with tepid water instead of cold water straight out of the tap helps quite a bit. Living in northern latitudes our water is quite cold compared to the tropics, so when you hit your tropical beauty with icy water it can shock it and then you've got dropping or yellowing leaves. I heard this tip decades ago and have used it ever since. Just barely tepid...not warm to your hand, you are a human and they are plants, so 'warm' for them is barely tepid to us. A summer in Florida demonstrated to me that subtropical rain or well water is like standing in a lukewarm shower. I was on well water and never needed to use hot water in the shower. Ironically, it's easier to grow 'house' plants outdoors in FL than indoors, due to the nearly universal air conditioning. without which life is almost unbearable, but is hell on plants.

I have just gotten back into houseplants again. I love my outdoor gardens around my house. We are in Michigan and have long dreary winters and having some plants inside makes it a little more bearable. I am learning a lot from your channel! Mostly that the light in my house is awful and have had to add some grow lights! 😢 I love that your plants aren't perfect and you give us a chance to learn from them.

I separated my parlour and kentia palms. They should sell them as single plants as they do not grow like this in nature and would look more like a paln instead of a bush. My guess is that they don't grow well due to root competition.

I purchased a 50 year old jade plant from a local plant sale. It was huge! The base of the main stock was at least 6" wide. I was unable to provide optimal lighting and overwatered it... 3 months after getting the plant the whole stock became rotten and it died... I saved many cuttings but did the same to them in time... It was devistating.. I have since learned from my mistake but can't look at a jade plant without thinking of that monster mistake. Thanks for the tour friend!

I recently discovered this channel and I absolutely love your chill, funny and informative videos. I am a big plant fan. And I love having lots of plants at home. A large part of my plants fell victim to a fungus gnat plague 3 years ago, but after many experiments I was finally able to save a few, with cinnamon. The critters hate the smell 😂😂😂. But that was unfortunately the reason, that I didn't buy new. Now you've infected me again with my addiction and I've already made a big list of plants to buy 😁😁. Thank you very much for the experiences and tips. And most of all, thank you for introducing all of your beautiful plants. Greetings from Germany 😊.

Re: Your Sedum: it's called "ice plant" and is used for ground cover along freeways in the SF Bay Area, so yeah, it wants to crawl. It blooms sporadically outdoors and gets rather scraggly, but who notices when they're passing it at 70mph? Won't tolerate freezing temps, so it's an indoor plant for those of us further north.

Man, I have a very similar set up, though, of different plant varieties. I have experienced some of the same issues and happiness as you have with your plants. I, personally, predominately use rainwater collected in the rain barrels around my house to avoid the browning tips from the chlorine/fluoride tap water in all of my 'long-leaved or fronded' plants like the Dracena Marginata tricolor, spider plants, Hawaiian Ti, ponytail palm, Flamingo flower to name a few. My devil's ivy, sago palm, angelwing begonia, bamboo, jades don't seem to mind the tap water. Your knowledge far surpasses mine and I thoroughly enjoy your videos! Thanks for bringin' smiles to my face with your affinity for plants!

On "low light": Foot-candles (the measurement of the amount of light falling on a surface) decreases as a -square- of the distance, in other words, the light amount drops by half with each unit of measurement, per foot/meter. So the light intensity from a window drops very quickly. Even a shade-loving plant gets more light outdoors in the shade than it will four or five feet from a window. Grow lights may not be aesthetically pleasing, but your plants will love you for it.

Hi Richard, what brings me back to repeat a watch of your videos, next to the relaxing plant tour, is the music in the background. Do you remember what that piece is called at 56:42? It's so lovely. I saw the Music Unlimited Epic Video Library link but I couldn't find it.

I bet the 2024 edition of his entire collection will be 2 hours long and features a major score by Hans Zimmer.

so if you talk TO your plants it's a good thing. i wonder how they like it when you talk ABOUT them while holding them. they must feel really special 🌟

I have been following you for months now and what I like about the channel i that you are concise and precise not a lo of bla bla bla. I have been tempted to ask you about the coleus at 2:12 minutes for a long time and watching this video when you are showing it I jjust couldn't resist. What's the name of that wonderful coleus?? I live in the Stated and I have never seen a coleus with those so pretty colors! I have a whole collection of coleus but that one.... maybe I could buy some seeds from a grower in England... thank you in advance!!

Thanks! This was given to me and i've struggled to identify the variety. Closest is maybe a chocolate covered cherry but doesn't look spot on

Need to try some of these plants that you've got. With the heart leaf hoya I found out recently that they often sell just a leaf in a pot. Without the node it can't grow into a full plant and you can't propagate it.

I love this!! I do wish the names of the plants were on the screen longer. I am adding them to a list.of plants I want, and it can be hard to get all the letters of the name in the time it's on screen. I love this though, and I love being able to see the variety!!
