What I love about your channel is that you don't obsess about the size. That's rather discouraging for people like me who love plants but cannot have it as a career. I am sure we all do our best and have some great plants, but cannot aspire to vast, and perfect collections that the professionals have. I, BTW, rescue and run a beautiful home for dogs in need. As in abandoned, abused, surrendered pets, and strays who because of age, chronic illnesses, or having become maimed from accidents or having been subjected to human tormentors can no longer survive on the roads. We have lovely flowering plants there too. I digress, but thank you for being attainable.

Re: Your Sedum: it's called "ice plant" and is used for ground cover along freeways in the SF Bay Area, so yeah, it wants to crawl. It blooms sporadically outdoors and gets rather scraggly, but who notices when they're passing it at 70mph? Won't tolerate freezing temps, so it's an indoor plant for those of us further north.

On "low light": Foot-candles (the measurement of the amount of light falling on a surface) decreases as a -square- of the distance, in other words, the light amount drops by half with each unit of measurement, per foot/meter. So the light intensity from a window drops very quickly. Even a shade-loving plant gets more light outdoors in the shade than it will four or five feet from a window. Grow lights may not be aesthetically pleasing, but your plants will love you for it.

I purchased a 50 year old jade plant from a local plant sale. It was huge! The base of the main stock was at least 6" wide. I was unable to provide optimal lighting and overwatered it... 3 months after getting the plant the whole stock became rotten and it died... I saved many cuttings but did the same to them in time... It was devistating.. I have since learned from my mistake but can't look at a jade plant without thinking of that monster mistake. Thanks for the tour friend!

I have just gotten back into houseplants again. I love my outdoor gardens around my house. We are in Michigan and have long dreary winters and having some plants inside makes it a little more bearable. I am learning a lot from your channel! Mostly that the light in my house is awful and have had to add some grow lights! 😢 I love that your plants aren't perfect and you give us a chance to learn from them.

The Anthurium you first showed, is an Anthurium Clarinervium. One my absolute favourite plants. I have one in my bedroom, which is a north facing room. It has done so well for me, never complained or shown any issues. Loved it so much, I got a second one! I get flowers from my first plant in summer time, and even new leaves! I have only just got my second one a few months back, so will see if it behaves the same way. I believe humidity wise, my environment is perfect for them, as I’m in Cornwall. So we do have a humid and semi-tropical climate. I do have other plants that I do supplement with grow lights, which are by Sansi. They are a great brand. The majority of my plants are more or the shade tolerant kind, but I have noticed them doing better with the grow lights I have gotten. Thanks for the plant tour! Love your videos! Keep up the good work!

Beautiful, Thank you for showing your plants! I think the reason your Hoya Carnosa is not growing is not enough light. Love the tours! Note on watering: keeping in mind that most house plants are tropical or subtropical, I've found that watering with tepid water instead of cold water straight out of the tap helps quite a bit. Living in northern latitudes our water is quite cold compared to the tropics, so when you hit your tropical beauty with icy water it can shock it and then you've got dropping or yellowing leaves. I heard this tip decades ago and have used it ever since. Just barely tepid...not warm to your hand, you are a human and they are plants, so 'warm' for them is barely tepid to us. A summer in Florida demonstrated to me that subtropical rain or well water is like standing in a lukewarm shower. I was on well water and never needed to use hot water in the shower. Ironically, it's easier to grow 'house' plants outdoors in FL than indoors, due to the nearly universal air conditioning. without which life is almost unbearable, but is hell on plants.

Jade plants, provided they are allowed sufficient transition time, can handle full blast sun. They will take on red colouration in response. I'm in Southern, Western Canada, and I put mine out on the back patio during the summer. They are absolutely super vulnerable to frost though, so remember to bring them back in early enough in the fall. I have found they are pretty much like tomato plants with regards to heat / sun / frost response. Jades handle drying out the pot way better than tomatoes do, though.

How do your plants handle the doors being opened during colder months? The one plant by the heater. You could add something to the wall to block the heat 🤷‍♀️ painted cardboard or something. Beautiful plant collection and oh my I’m so envious of all your windows 😌 I wish I had that 😅 my house is pretty small with very limited windows and trees. Oh the front of my house faces East and the awning clouds a lot of the light also. No matter what I’m so grateful to have a place to call home 🏡 blessing for sure 🙏

Need to try some of these plants that you've got. With the heart leaf hoya I found out recently that they often sell just a leaf in a pot. Without the node it can't grow into a full plant and you can't propagate it.

I had a Birkin that was down to one stem. I put it on the windowsill and ignored it. My experience was to have it beg me for water and then wait another day and only then will I give it some much-needed water and now it's too big for the windowsill.

That was fascinating. When I saw you were going to show us your entire collection I actually said YISSS out loud! I have many of the same plants as you so I enjoyed seeing where you had placed them, the problems you'd had and how you solved them. I also moved over to using water conditioner recently on your advice. All of my plants are in great condition but some are pretty new so time will tell. I'm not a Hoya fan myself (those trailing bits are way too messy for me) and aside from my mini monstera, I like all of my plants to trail. The Marble Queen, Devil's Ivy and Happy N'Joy all look fabulous trailing and I really like that Devil's Ivy does well in low light. I used to have a Coleus when I lived in Montenegro and I forgot how gorgeous they are so I'm going to pick up another one when I can. I don't bother with cacti anymore but my succulents also do well on the bedroom windowsill. My Blue Chalksticks is currently flowering which made me inordinately excited. Loved the video - thank you for taking the time to record it for us.

41:48 - Thank you for explaining this! I have been unable to successfully propagate my jade plant. I have been doing it all wrong, apparently. I will try your way, which looks quite simple. Thanks!

I appreciate your natural presentation that is relaxed. Your tour of your fabulous plants that is attainable and managable because you makes it comfortable by showing your dead leaves, fungas gnat stickers, and plants that is not growing fast enough because they could be in a not ideal location. I feel like you're are not selling something
