I uh... im in the same boat. I just picked it up cause it seemed cool and it was but star trek, especially the original series just never appealed? Is one considered a deeper cut interest wise or does one usually necessitate the seeing of the other or are they both similar in texture?

The "British explorer look" is a Curosity Cabinet. The word cabinet being a bit of a misnomer. The origionals were wall mounted cabinets or large pieces of furniture that opened up to specimens, art, collected studies.... often these men were scholars, physicians, veterinarians, scientists etc... and they collected an asunder of interesting things for study and reference. Then their rich friends noticed. These rich friends were often "men of letters" who were traveled and amassed items as they traveled. This is also the Renaissance where being a "man of all arts" aka "Renaissance Man" was en vogue. So the wealthy began to have entire rooms that were "curosity cabinets". Often the walls were lined with specimen cabinets (we have libraries for our books because we are uber rich), the center contained seating and larger taxidermed specimens/large miner samples. And then the ceilings were crammed full of art in the Salon Style. The artworks proving you were well rounded in a fields. Often men would return from "safari" in foreign lands and return with new specimens for display in their "cabinets" and then host a lecture with their "men of letters" friends in their new acquisitions and experiences. This is the origin of "explorer clubs" or "gentleman's clubs". ... i owned an Oddities/Curosity store for 3 years. It was just closed forever due to covid...this is the source of this knowledge
