Hannah Smith I was in the same position and I had my senior master sergeant call AFPC and they were able to provide us an org box to email and I ended up getting in contact with someone at AFPC and found out my application was with the wrong assignments team. Two days later. Application approved. Waiting on orders to drop now.

@@Brittanylynnlewis that's so good! I'm so happy for you guys. I'm 19 I'm not in a relationship, but I'm thinking about joining the Navy. It's been a dream of mine for a long time. I watched this because I was wondering what happens if I do ever marry someone, like if I'd ever see them or be gone for 4,8, or 20 years straight, like how often do y'all get to go home?

Ayyyye, my husband and I were AF x USMC. The closest we ever got was Creech AFB in NV and 29 Palms CA. We switched off driving to the other person every other weekend lol.

Did you have to meet a “time on station” requirement before getting reassigned to the base close to your husband?

This was really insightful and helpful! Thank you so much for sharing. I'm in the process of enlisting in the Air Force and my guy is an E-6 in the Marine Corps. I've been trying to plan ahead on what bases to list on my dream sheet that will be easiest to work with if/when we get married and attempt the join spouse process. Unfortunately, the AFSC I'm going for (1A8X1) is really limited on base options, so I'm not sure how it will go for us... But I genuinely hope it works out for y'all, as I can only imagine how difficult it must be to be married yet so far apart. Good luck and God bless!

A place like Okinawa would put you two close to each other as you serve your branches.

Your husband should consider changing branches to USAF. It’s possible his specialty is transferable to the USAF. He might have to go through tech school but not Basic. Much easier to be at the same base if you’re in the same branch.

Marines are stubborn though 😂 I doubt they’d switch to any other branch let alone the Air Force lol. No shame on the Air Force (I ship out for AF BMT next month) but I know Marines are very proud to be Marines.

Robin Elise True that. I think both being AF might be easier to make joining spouse happen. Very few chances they’ll be stationed together unless it’s like Pearl Harbor-Hickam, or something where Marines and Air Force together. Other than that, I don’t know. Needs to be the need for both job roles at the same base as well. My concern would be is the settlement permanent? Not sure how many people are lucky enough to get a job that keeps them at the same base their whole career, let alone two people in two branches with different evolving needs.

Do you know if there is a waiver for time on station? Me and my wife are in the same exact situation, except we have a baby on the way

@@bryanruiz3768 there is a waiver for time on station (especially during a pregnancy). It has to be approved by a T-1 MAJCOM Commander though (which could take some time, so I would recommend doing it if y’all have more then 6 months until time on station is met. If you have less than 6 months left then I wouldn’t go through the lengthy process, chain of command might try to sway you away from it anyways if you have less than 6 months left. Just know that through the entire process of your joint spouse application, YOU HAVE TO BE ANNOYING! That is the only way we got anywhere with ours, keep bugging your chain of command to ouch it up and get it signed, and then once it goes to outbound assignments you have to keep calling them and bugging them everyday until your orders get made

Do you happen to know how it works when both are active and already on station? Not sure if we could join spouse when oth are already on assignment… Can an assignment be cut short to pcs to your spouse? I have noooo idea

Yes that’s what we did. We were both active and on different assignments at the time. I PCS’d to my spouse.

Hi, me (junior in high school) and my girlfriend (sophomore in high school) are thinking about enlisting. It true that AF to Army can have a “joint program”? I plan on going to the army and my girlfriend is still trying to choose between AF n army. My dad is a recruiter in the army and i’m enlisting under him when it’s time. Im most likely going to be finished with BT and AIT school by the time my girlfriend graduates, plan on getting married sometime after she graduates. Is it also true that if i get stationed somewhere an im the higher rank then despite her being in the AF she’d be stationed either at my base or somewhere closer? N if she chooses the army then she could most likely be stationed at the same base?

@@eem17 Yes! My husband and I are dual-AF to Army and we are currently stationed together. It depends on both of your MOS/AFSC and the location but it’s most definitely possible. Ask your dad about “joint-domicile.” That’s the term for Army! For Air Force, it’s called Join-spouse!

yes you’ll get order to the spouse if base has ur job and make sure ur intent code is there.
