Fun fact: this story is set in the year 2030, at the earliest. The seventh Harry Potter book came out in 2007, when Elza was four. She graduated two years early at sixteen (2019), before attending at least four years of college (2023). She began dating Leonard during her last year in college (still 2023, assuming she stopped at a bachelors). They dated for two years (2025), and they had a daughter one year later (2026). Finally, Anna is four during the scene where Elza makes up with her father (2030). If she instead got her Ph.D. in physics, her final year of university would likely be closer to 2026, pushing the final scene to 2033.

@Botsy3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, though, it /is/ realistic. Things like that happen all the time because "but it's my blood"...there's so many toxic parents out there, and the moment they say sorry, we forgive them. My adoptive dad didn't talk to me for 14 years - starting when I was 13. I talk to him now. My adoptive Mom is the absolute worst- yet if she actually said "I'm sorry" and owned up to the things she's done, I'd probably unfortunately have her back in my life. Same with all of my adoptive family and my biological family. I see stories on my TL so often of people complaining how terrible their families are to them, they're so heartbroken, but still seek their approval. My best friend's Mom is just awful to him, yet I know if she apologized and starting acting right, he'd value the relationship, even after every mean thing she's done. Sadly, it literally happens all the time.

Can I just point out how crazy the timeline is in this story? Elsa says she read the seventh harry potter book, which came out in 2007, when she was four years old. That would make her 18 (or maybe younger) now in 2021. That means she started dating Leonard when she was 15, got married at 17, and gave birth at 18! And that’s not even factoring in all the stuff at the end about the stroke and taking over the company, which presumably took several months. Either that, or the narrator is telling this story from the future.

For an animated story that was surprisingly well written (I know the bar is very low). I just didn't like the ending. It makes no sense to me to just give up everything you've worked for just because your father who has abused you for years had a heart attack. It also doesn't make sense to me to just forgive and forget everything because he gave you a (imo very bad) reason for his abuse. "I didn't think you needed me to love you". And for that bullshit excuse he rather cut ties with one of his daughters than admitting that his pitty for his other daughter is going too far. I'm thinking way too much about this.
@claro_ve67603 жыл бұрын

This story is like a 3rd rate manhua with a dumb father an sister that can't recognise the worth of the protagonist, who secretly is a one in a generation genius trained by the spirit of Albert Eistein himself. But then instead of killing them after some face slapping or exile them like in every manhua she just throw everything in the garbage an go back to her abusive family. @@PatLund not really The forgiveness part maybe if she was still hung up on her father's validation which the story doesn't tell us much about. But no super important huge high tech company would be taken over by a scientist. Her father couldn't have just made her CEO or whatever. There are more people in a company who have say in it. It's been a while since I've watched the video, but if I recall correctly she wasn't even really in the right field to be CEO of a company like that. Not to mention that CEOs are business studies people most of the time anyway. But even the forgiveness part isn't all that realistic. She's a single mom so I understood why she would snap sometimes to some extent, at least I chose to just to keep my sanity at bay. She's a close-minded Christian, one of the bad ones. I think the abuse from my dad then the heartbreak from her second marriage mixed in with her poor and tough upbringing really affected her mental state over the years. In a way, she's pitiful. But I still can't forgive the way she would let me get physically abused in our own home. I was so young too. I wound up either hating most of my family or being detached from them; except for my little sister. Something that I will never forget is the night I was bursting in angry tears, arguing with her about the usual, her not protecting me, why the one's hurting me couldn't act mature and snapped at anything I said if they slightly disagreed with It. Things like that. When I started going on an emotional rant about how she doesn't treat me with the same affection, she interrupted and said "I gave him more love because he needed it, you guys are so strong and I just had to be more close with him." That's the gist of it. The reason she made us feel like we were never loved, the only times she would interject in our life just to force her beliefs on us, and hating what we liked in the most annoying way was because she thought we were strong? Her parenting style has caused so many psychological problems with each and every one of her kids, and that was her excuse? The only time she would praise us or give us love was to manipulate us into loving her or doing what she wanted. She never exploited us for financial or social gain, but it was still so cruel. I can't tell if it's because she's learned, if she's finally realized that she'll lose us if she keeps acting this way, or if it's because most of her kids are off being independent; but she's settled down for the most part. I'm not completely comfortable with how she suddenly started texting me positive messages, saying she loves me, and actually focusing on me. But maybe it's a step for the better. I'm still guarded but I can't deny the times she was actually a good parent. Hopefully things go well from now on. Sorry for dumping my life story all of a sudden.

I could read when I was 4... Turns out it's part of my autism. I have a lot of disabilities. Be proud of your kids, no matter what they read or how they eat. Just because you are " smarter" than someone, does not mean you deserve more praise. That is sick

Even if they were a child prodigy I would still be wary if a four year old read six Harry Potter books as they are pretty dark and even the second one deals with brainwashing, addiction, murder, and slavery. Concepts my own mother was a little wary about when I was seven and eight…not four (she let me read them but would ask me if I’d read certain chapters yet and asked me to tell her what I read and what I understood. It was pretty cool parenting IMO)

My parents were of the opinion we could handle "darker" things. We also really liked all those dark fairy tales our father read to us and he read to us The Hobbit etc etc. I also read Harry Potter pretty early. Sure, maybe not with four, but pretty early nonetheless. The only time my mom took away a book from me was when I stole a Stephen King book and tried to read it in secrecy. I would like to say a few more things, but I feel like that would sound like I'm praising myself even though I always wait to have the confirmation of another person before saying something good about me, but well uh, I too think kids can handle darker aspects in contrast to popular belief that they are incapable

My father was like that with my younger bro. He for some reason wanted my younger bro to be far more successful than me. I haven't spoken to either of them ever since I moved out. I don't need an apology, everyone going their own way and out of the way is a good enough apology :) Younger bro never graduated HS and works at my father's job as a construction worker. He had an accident baby and his gf left him because he wasn't being a father. He never washes after work, showers every 3 days or until his smell becomes unbearable for him. I can't believe he still behaves like a child, he's 20 and refuses to brush his teeth and that's what my dad is proud of? I finished HS, could of been a full honors student but I had a father who refused to take me to the library and no internet made it hard for me to succeed. That's okay because I am still in college, married and looking forward to my own family.

So Elsa and Martha were in 8th grade. Principal wanted to bump her up a few grades. Elsa got bumped up to 9th grade and graduated 2 years earlier? Either they didn't bother mentioning the second move up or the math doesn't add up for someone who is apparently so smart lol

This story reminds me of that one Shakespeare play where the old king has each of his daughters tell him how much they love him, and when the youngest daughter tells him how her love for him is indescribable, she's exiled from the kingdom. Like, this is just 100% fake. Edit: it's called the Tragedy of King Lear.
@rebeccabriggs94523 жыл бұрын
If I recall right... isn't the youngest daughters words something along the line of "I love you like bread" which was meant to mean she loved him like she loved the things that are necessary to keep her alive and healthy and happy, and something that everyone needs. Whereas the older daugthers were all "I love you like Emeralds/diamonds/finest silk" and dad thought that meant that youngest daughter only thought of him as being common. I don't think it's a shakespeare play though? I seem to remember it being one of the Aesop's fables (A greek author who used to write stories with a moral or meaning at the end), the meaning of this story showing through at the end that jewellry and fine things are to be enjoyed while one can but the love of one who is needed to survive is far greater.. or something along those lines

@@rebeccabriggs9452 I haven't heard that story, but I assume this is just a pretty common plotline :)

@@lillian2342 XD! To be fair, it doesn't surprise me any about it being a common plotline. Goes to show though, you absolutely learn something new every day. King Lear huh? I was never a huge shakespeare fan, but I'm going to have to look up the scene in question now to see if it's anything like the fable I remember as well!

Ok, let's pretend like that's a good excuse for giving more attention to Martha. Even so, that's no excuse for how bad he treated Elza. Also, even though I don't have a twin, I do have siblings. And if my parents wanted to tell me or do something for me without my brothers knowing, they'd do it when it was just us and then explicitly tell me not to tell my brothers. So for example, he could've just praised Elza for how well she did at his work but then told her not to tell Martha that because he doesn't want Martha to feel bad. That way both daughters would've been happy but no one got hurt. .
