Tofu is delicious. And I’m not a vegetarian or a vegan. If you don’t know how to use tofu, then don’t buy it. It is meant to absorb the flavor of the dish, not add flavor to the dish like meat. It’s just a different protein.

@@svgarpawsYep, zoos can't use poisons as to not endanger their animals so they have housecats there for the smaller pests, the larger ones like rats get shot. At my local zoo, they're not kept officially, they just wander in and either survive there or they don't. A favorite is "Devil" which is a black cat with bright reddish-orange eyes, visitors have a tendency to feed him, so he doesn't really catch that much mice anymore.

Nevertheless the bread was covered in homemade linen (she had massive handloom in attic) and never ever get mouldy only dry and hard. My hunch is today even with great artisanal no preservatives bread they probably use too much water because its easier to work the dough. Our had lowest possible hydration and was hard as rock and i have no idea how she was able do it all by hands only. I think the low expectation is a given so that if you did find a hidden gem in these products, you would be pleasantly surprised. Also as an Asian, tofu is a staple food for me along with other soy product - tempeh and soy milk primarily, but I guess not everyone likes it :) Best kind of tofu is the puffy one and that kind seems very rare in Australia - most Australian tofu here is either the hard one that doesn't absorb anything or the silken one that just falls apart.

I genuinely get more than half of my shopping for free these days because I review _everything_ and do so honestly. Don’t think I’ve ever given a 1 star review, the lowest I gave was a 2 star because the vegan labelled product contained ghee, and not a ghee alternative, just straight ghee. All I can imagine is that the country of origin doesn’t quite understand Western veganism and the place I buy groceries from missed it. It did make me laugh that all the (presumably) vegans buying this and reviewing it were raving about its taste and giving it 5 stars. Hopefully I helped them out though, nothing worse than not knowing what you’re eating.

As a german them saying that sandwich toast bread is bland... Well toast barely qualifies as a real bread imo and no shit any toast tastes like that lol. Especially if eaten untoasted ofc
