Have you considered making the giants axes and giving them as gifts to every king in the game and see how many use them? Though admittedly giant axe V giant axe might be dangerous it would make an enemy king a clear target for the spell missiles.....

I've observed that if you take too much time to aim, your spell will only affect a single troop. However, if you shoot the enemy immediately, the attack will hit all of them, and the damage will be spread evenly across all enemy troops..
