Also worth noting that his bot filters out viewers with low watch time, to cut down on bots and trolls. So what we’re seeing scroll by is actually the ‘regular viewers’ as opposed to ‘the unwashed masses’. But yeah it’s interesting seeing chat grapple with simple concepts. StS is a subtly complex game, and many assumptions you have as a new player turn out to be wrong as you watch/play a few hundred hours.

For those who don't know the math the Jorbs was talking about it goes like this -> 3/n (The chance of not going to the store and then seeing the relic in the next store) = ((n-3)/n * 3/(n-3)) (The chance of going to the store, not seeing the relic and then seeing it in the next store.) A little overly simplified, and might not even be totally true, depending how the gain handles different rarities of shop relics, but you get the idea.

n = number of shop relics remaining in pool? I don't think the confusion was about the math, it was that people weren't taking into account you won't(can't?) see every shop relic in one run. So seeing an extra shop risks seeing dead branch when you can't buy it, but gives you a better chance to see it in general. Including later so unless dead branch is 1 of the only 3 shop relics left you want to go to see more of other relics. The math for this would be very long. Risk of early see dead branch vs how much it increases your odds of seeing it in a shop later (when you can buy it).

How does the negative strength modifier you get from Screaming Wail actually work? Sometimes it gives a massive reduction in strength and other times not so much. So there seems to be some other variable that impacts it's effectiveness?

Mike L 1 strength = 1 damage so it takes 6 off the first number so the amount can vary widely dependent on if it’s say 6x3 you take 0 and if it’s 30 you’ll be taking 24

It takes 6 off of the base attack(s). Weak is applied afterwards so, if they are weak it applies 75% of 6 which is 4.

Ok thanks, seems obvious now that you mention it. Someone said you could block up to 90 against the heart so that confused me. But I guess it must do some big multi attack. I’m trying to beat the heart with silent and having trouble surviving the first two major attacks. I can get to the heart pretty consistently but struggle a bit with defence.

@@MDL.720 Just pick up Wraith forms and a small deck. In all other cases die. Easy :D Other ways that I can think of now, besides normal blocking somehow, are having loads of screaming wails (and some way to get rid of the artifect charge), a ghost in the jar, weakness sources, Orange Pellets (get's rid of the vunerable on you!), a fairy potion or relic (only defends against big hit), other potions (potion belt helps for this), Apperations, Incense burner (on the right number), Malaise. So sometimes your deck has already a good enough chance against everything but the heart and you prioritise above (and not fattening your deck), even though your deck would improve against all other fights with a certain choice.

Personally I feel like "random common relic" is by far the best whale option, with random rare you sometimes get a dud like spinning top, but there is very few misses with the commons.

TBF a first relic spinning top is a lot better than a 7th relic spinning top after your deck is too established to ever build around it, but yeah. At least with first relic spinning top you could prioritize cards that normally would be mediocre like Burning Pact on Clad, Prepared on Silent, or Recycle on Defect, but yeah without like med kit it'd still run into issues lol

But... burning pact is excellent. Unupgraded prepared is mediocre, hard to pick that card unless you have tough bandages.

@@mikked01 Situationally good sure, just like most other things. I'd never pick up any of those three cards raw with no other synergy already established like Corruption, tons of feel no pains, or other exhaust strategies. Recycle is arguably the worst of the three to be honest, there just isn't many situations that you want an extra 1-2 (barring like m strike) energy at the cost of two cards, you'd need a good source of card draw....like spinning top when you played all your remaining cards.

One thing spinning top doesn't do is help you kill act 1 elites, doesn't start to manifest it's potential until mid act 2

Didn't fumes use to cost 3? Also didn't poison only damage after the enemies attack? I didn't play since near the start of the game. The game seem to be so much easier ever since back then.

noxious fumes has always been the same, never changed. Not sure about the posion thing, but the game is nowhere near as easy as the start, what with the addition of the heart and ascensions up to 20. You're watching one of the best players though so arguably it looks easy

It's not useless, but I think it's usually too slow? I vaguely remember him talking about it in the past, and it helped me see how mediocre it was. First you have to draw it, so it takes away one of your 5 cards you see for the turn, putting you at a -1 for card selection on cards that impact the board. Then you have to spend an energy playing it. if you don't, you're going to draw it again later for another -1, and that means it's incentivizing you to weaken your turn in order to get it out of your draw pile. It does nothing the turn you play it. The turn after you play it, it lets you see one more card than you would otherwise. The turn after that, it's finally positive for card selection, but you're still down an energy. And then it slowly gets more worth it the more turns the fight takes. But, uh, how long do most fights take? And if you don't draw it on turn 1, is enough time going to pass for it to be worth it?

Not true, the only way to upgrade the bites during the event is with molten egg. Upgraded strikes gives regular bites.

@@Century_Chandra I'm fairly sure this is not the case, in my own memory you need an egg. The wiki agrees says so too, as does the wording of the event. (Lose all strikes gain 5 bites, as opposed to lose all strikes gain 5 upgraded bites)

@@sogen7967 not upgraded strikes specifically strikes upgraded by the ancient writing event, which might have a different flag in the code. Even so this is all anecdotal so I'll freely admit I might be wrong

Mod that lets the characters physically wear the boot. Only on one foot as there is only one, true boot

@@Piekace Make it the starter relic for a new character, The Foot. That way other characters never get it. Toe Strike - 1 Energy - Remove 8 Block. Deal 1 Damage.

@@mtaur4113 Do you realize that making the boot exclusive to a single character would effectively kill off all the others? Sure, a sole character being the boot wouldn't be bad, but it just seems like time wasted making the existing characters. I would also like to have some varying spice by seeing different characters attached to the boot between runs.
