I like how you very briefly explained what we see and then immediately started the game and explained on the go what you were doing. Maybe a little fiddly, but I’ve got 900 hours in the digital version so I’m used to everything being automated like I’m sure a lot of people are. I love the tactile nature of board games though and there’s just something about drawing a card reward in your hands versus seeing it on screen that speaks to me! Thanks for watching!

​We played as a group of 4, and one of us didn't played digital version before. That person picked watcher, and had a good time. Of course we helped with mechanics, but watcher player said that rules was not hard to understand

I hesitated for ages before buying this, I'm not a board game player in general and over £100 seemed a lot of money, but it turned out to be one of the best purchases I've made in terms of hours of entertainment. It's a different challenge to the video game, fewer floors means upgrades/removes are harder to come by and with reduced damage/block/HP numbers every encounter is more dangerous, but yet I find it more relaxing than the original. I'm still only on Ascension 4 and haven't been brave enough to go for a heart run yet, as taking the blue key means sacrificing the only guaranteed relic in Act 1...yikes.

@@arlasoft I’m glad you took that leap and have been having such a great time with it! I still haven’t attempted the heart either, but I plan to in a future video! Can’t decide if I want to increase my odds of winning by attempting it on an early Ascension or to give myself the ultimate challenge and attempt it on the final ascension.

Glad you're enjoying it! You can skip any relic to gain blue key, including those from Elite rewards.

For boss relics you can choose 1 of 3 choices. And when you beat the boss you’re supposed to get a rare card reward

This is really helpful. My brother, his wife and I started playing this last weekend but progress was slow as we had to keep referring to the manual for things like enemy turns, etc. Your first person perspective is great, though I'd suggest getting a lavalier mic since the camera audio is a bit quite and picking up a lot of room echo.

@@soviut303 thanks for the mic suggestion! I have a yeti nano that does better when I have it closer to my mouth, but the way I was recording this one didn’t allow for that. I’ll see if I can find a solution for the echo that’s doable for me at the moment!

That Twin Strike on Nob actually did 8 damage. 2+1 for strength and +1 for vulnerable twice

@@CaptainHavana yes, you are correct! I hindered myself a little bit extra here with forgetting some rules, but we will just call it Ascension 1.5 and remember for the Silent run. :)

@kur190 the bottled relic suite is not in the board game. Probably just a bit too wordy to make the effect as intended happen since the relic cards are so small. I hope one day you’re able to acquire it!

@@supercommando440 naw, about 3 hours the first few times if you play through all three Acts. I would recommend only playing through 1 or 2 Acts until you’re comfortable and have picked up some speed. If I’m playing on my own and not trying to record, I can probably do each Act in 30-45 minutes depending on how many combats are in my path. And you just flip your upgraded cards back to their upgraded side if that’s what you mean. It doesn’t take too long.

Oh, I’m pretty sure vunerable only works on the first “attack symbol”. Which means updated Twin Strike (plus 1 Strengh) would be able to do 6 + 3, instead of 6 + 6. I think I saw it on a FAQ the designers made on BGG. It is a shame, though; I was playing like you until then

@@biancpinheir I did a quick scan of the first couple pages of BGG forums containing the word “vulnerable” and I was unable to find anything saying this. If you could find that and let me know where I can check it out, I’d be more than happy to correct that for future runs!

The instructions in the manual said “deal 2x damage on each 🗡️ in the next attack, then remove a vulnerable token” if that helps

It's 2x damage on the next attack, as in the card, not the sword symbol.
