I see a lot of questions here but no answers. I almost made a decision to sponsor a "friend". However, when I found out that I will be financially responsible for that individual for up to 10 years, I decided against it. If during that time I can't fulfill my financial obligations, that person can sue me. Life is hard unless you're rich, I don't want the government in my pocket for 10 years. You have to be 100% certain this is something you want to do for a foreigner.

If an immigrant is going to USA it alike they are going big or goo n home they not there to play around.they there to make the American money build business and send money back home.why should they sue you?that's so wrong.actually that sue I g was o my I think in cases of the husband and wife and the wife was too money hung r to realize people go thru tough time and in Americaists so easy for her husband to get access to food and housing to get back on his feet and support her.i mean why isn't she could not work.

These are some good questions to consider. I used a joint sponsor that told me they filed taxes for every year then they didn't have tax returns for the past few years and we got a 221g letter as a result asking for a new joint sponsor

Thank you for your video, so help me out here ... a lady (applicant immigrant) used her brother in law as a joint sponsor because her petitioner(husband) didn’t meet the 125% guidelines. The applicant and petitioner have their family of 5 kids and the two= 7 in the household. The brother in law is Single, 0 dependents. He is is only joint sponsoring the applicant just 1 person. She was denied . They told her that her brother in law had to earn 50K . And he made 44K . Why? If the joint sponsor has no family , and he has never been sponsor to others in the past . Did the consular officer made a mistake? The brother in law filled out the i864 not i864a thank you.

Hi McBean, If petitioner has not sufficient income, but beneficiary has enough income and wealth, in other words, if total income of both petitioner and beneficiary is enough together, do they need a joint sponsor in I-864 (Affidavit of Support) Form?
