This guy made a DVD which should be bought by every drummer in the world , it's litterally a bible of how to use the stick at their full potential and your body in a way that is energy efficient. Truely my favorite drummer out there.

I like how electronic music basically came from either sampled drumsounds or analog drum sounds and now gets reintroduced into actual acoustic drums again:P

As a bassist, I love these videos! Jojo Mayer has so much to offer outside to people! I have to say though... John Davis needs to drop some Textural Technique videos for bass!
@VQuiZ1111 жыл бұрын
Texture and palette, not something a lot of people talk about these days, but I feel as though these are just as if not more important than hand technique or learning the latest lick. People like Jojo and Chris Dave and Mark Guiliana who have this shit down and are in a constant mindset of changing and improving it, these guys are the real deal.

Wow. Playing aside, he really has figured out how to make an acoustic kit sound "digital." That kick sound is spot on!

Jojo is fundamental stone for all the drummers of today, and another thing he is historian or the drums (the double pedal commemoration in his performance on modern drummer and now another reference) thats dedication and constant 'outside of the box' thinking. check his work on janek gvizdala and try to emulate.
@funky7chunky11 жыл бұрын
I see a lot of drummers trying to make obscure sound with their drums and most of the time it just makes me cringe. Why is it Jojo can apply this stuff just so much better than everyone else? He always makes this stuff sound amazing!

If I needed to write it down, I wouldn't base this song's time signature only in Jojo's work. While listening with the band you can count it naturally as 6/4 + 2/4, while he freely works with off-beat accents (odd time "groupings", not signature). But yes, if you count the odd time groupings would be 10/8 + 7/8 + 15/8, hehehe!

True dude, it's not that much of a complicated beat, but it doesn't look that simple though, at least to me :p I'm a beginner drummer, and I think I could probably do this beat (thnx for confidence btw ^^)... But i would probably have to keep praticing it for a day so that it would come out half a good as this!! I subbed to freedrumlesson a while aggo btw ^^

@subwoofer67267 жыл бұрын
And fuck your way of playing; simply put that statement works both ways. If I or anyone wants to play "32nd note solos" then that's our business and we're not really concerned with if you like it or not. Most of the time, it's getting camera, studio, and stage/audience time much to many people's biased egotistical begrudgement who can't get past the Buddy Rich years of drumming for the sake of pleasing a dead audience.
