I watched that film in my Film Theory class earlier this year, and it baffles me that something like it wasn't the direction WB went with for a sequel to 2019's Joker. You'd have maddening visuals, you'd have a perfect opportunity to adapt Mad Love RIGHT (basically frame it like an old medical drama the same way the main couple in NBK's first meeting is framed like a macabre I Love Lucy parody), you'd get a lot of in-character Harley (if the suits let her be the pathetic, dependent girlfailure she's meant to be), and you'd have 2 hours of the Joker being a flamboyant, sadistic killer and abusive freak.

Once they broke out of Arkham, I was assuming the mayhem of Arthur and Lee would begin and it never did. It was just the musical aspects instead. Some of em were nice and the rest were unnecessary. Very repetitive as you said. I wanted so much more of Lee's story and there wasn't much of it. We didn't get enough of her to learn much. I wanted a Bonnie and Clyde dynamic in this as well. The musical sequences we'rent tied into the story well. It got completely lost. This movie had so much potential. What a shame. This just feels like his bluff was called for this one because it feels like he's grasping at straws to create an unnecessary sequel.

I should have walked out, too. This movie was absolute trash. It was not The Joker or Joker. The film literally tells us that. So, we were all conned into watching two movies about a man that was not who we were told. False advertisement. The Joker is an intellectual property. So, to reveal that he is not The Joker or Joker is underhanded business. The audience deserves an apology and refunds. Yes! Give me my money back.

I was hoping it would be good. I love Lady Gaga and I had a really powerful experience watching the first film. I watched a free showing at tthe public library about a month before covid lock down. More than half of the audience were homeless people who were there to get out of the cold for a couple hours. At the time I was living in a halfway house and this context really underscored the themes of mental health and class in the film.

You know, if DC truly wanted to make a great Musical idea? They could have used a Batman villain whose whole gimmick is music, The Music Meister! In the past Neil Patrick Harris played him, imagine if we got a different stage actor to play him in a classic La La Land style film with a psychological thriller side. It could feature some popular Batman characters as well and give each their own musical style, like I’m thinking Riddler could have either a showman or Elton John style, Magpie (who’s a kleptomaniac villain obsessed with anything shiny) could have either a tango, or Maria and The Diamonds style, Scarecrow could have a Billie Eilish style, and Harley Quinn could have an electro swing jazz or vaudeville style. Music Meister could either have the music in his mind or make it his own powers forcing people to sing their inner thoughts like in the show Batman Brave and The Bold. If I was casting I’d choose broadway actor Aaron Tevitt as Music Meister, Anya Taylor Joy as Harley Quinn, KZbinr Annapantsu as Magpie, Neil Patrick Harris as The Riddler, and maybe Adam Lambert or Caleb Hyles as Scarecrow.
@notyouraverageharleyquinnstanАй бұрын
Sadly, not the movie I dreamed of, but I thought Gaga's Harley was great, just very underused. I really wanted to see way more of the two of them creating chaos in Gotham, but most of it was in the courtroom. Some of the music scenes were great, and some were unnecessary. I really think they should've gone the "Mad Love" origin story approach and had her come in as Dr. Harleen Quinzel. I don't mind her as an inmate already, but we didn't get enough of that. The ending sucked and I don't understand why they killed him off that way. Another thing Harley wise that I was happy with was the fact that she loved Joker and wanted him to be Joker, not just Arthur, himself. That's on brand with pre new 52 Harley, at least. And of course, her color scheme harlequin outfits are gorgeous. The musical aspect did ruin the hype for the movie so I knew this wouldn't go amazing lol I get some of the reasons why people dislike it. It is not what I wanted. Overall, there were some few specific scenes with them that I loved. If only there were more of them. I honestly loved Gaga in this like even more than I did Joker. I thought she was fantastic in the amount of time she was given. I wanted more of her.

She has so much potential as an actress, she was good in A star is born, House of Gucci and AHS. I don't know if it can damage her career, she had other dramas about her looks, things she said or performances she made that in fact were really controversial enough to destroy her career but it didn't. For Todd I think he can retire now, nobody at Hollywood will find him enough credible to allow him to produce new movies... For Joaquin... I really like the person he is but also the actor, but he always repeat the same mistakes. He modified the plot of this movie, he left the filming of Todd Haynes movie, etc... Why does he did that ? He worth better than that. I didn't watched the movie yet, some ppl told me that it is good and some other that it was bad. It’s not the worst this year when Borderlands and Madame Webb exists. This movie at least had some scenes and ideas that could’ve worked had it been given better context and written differently. But man this was really disappointing, because I love that first one. The relationship between Joker and Harley not being expound on greatly after coming off that first one is really sad, because this could’ve been an incredible twisted love story given how intricately the writing in the first truly focused on Arthur’s psyche. Could’ve been so interesting to study what happens when a man like Arthur and a lonely psychiatrist somehow become fond of each other.

When early reactions said that it was "bad on purpose" and "has contempt for its auidence" and was "one big troll," I thought they were exaggerating and overreacting......... They were actually being tame and putting it lightly! Anyone else notice the whole thing with Zazie Beetz, how she said that she had to move away because people were sending her nasty messages and threats over how they portrayed her in the movie they made off of the events..? Was that NOT supposed to be "commentary" on the stuff that they claimed happened with people like Kelly Marie Tran and Moses Ingram? Like...think about that in the context of the first movie and tell me how it makes sense and why they would even wanna bring her back AT ALL if not for that..? Why would her character be in a TV movie about Arthur when she was literally just a person who lived in his apartment building that he just broke into once and then left? (There goes the mystery of whether or not she lived...) This was just 2 hours and 20 minutes of fans getting the middle finger lol. And a weird obsession with sticking it to Inn-Cellz. The first one had nothing to do with sexual frustration, but they emphasized it a lot in this one and leaned into him being a weak man who created a character to play this alpha facade. And then he's humiliated and broken down in the most nightmarish way imaginable and ultimately discarded. And these particular fans also have this done to them, figuratively, through him. Hell, him saying "please stop singing" got some laughs because he is speaking for the theater, like they knew most people would hate it lol. "There goes your symbol of rebellion! HA-HA! He's not even the REAL Joker. He's just a weak loser like YOU!" Pretty vile stuff...
