Todd Philips and Joaquin Pheonix both repeatedly said they did not want to make a sequel. Todd hated the fact that people loved and related to Arthur fleck in the first film. Honestly, this movie felt like it was made to destroy the Arthur Fleck character and any association with the Joker by claiming he is not even the real Joker. It was also dead set on spiting anyone who liked the first film because we were not supposed to like the the character in the first film. It went as far as to violate ,degrade and deliberately assassinate Arthur Fleck's character. In the original movie, he represented a character who gave the finger to the system and society. People related to that. And it feels like Joaquin Phoenix agreed to have his character destroyed and buried so he would have nothing to do with it anymore. It feels as if Todd Philips went as far as saying he would only do the movie if it was a musical, hoping warner bros would let it go, instead they threw money at him, and then he was like "fuck" and couldn't really say no. So this movie feels like he did it in a way where neither he nor Joaquin would be asked to do another one ever again, by killing Arthur Fleck and went as far as saying he isn't even the Joker... this other guy is... so it leaves the ball in the studio's court do whatever the "F" they want to do with the character. Regardless it just seems like a shitty thing to do. And the first movie on its own merits stands as one of the greatest films I have ever seen. I love that film. It just sucks that they chose to not build on what it started.

I just need to get this said, I know I'm in the extreme minority of people who love batman stuff and musicals when done well. This film was damaging to me in ways most people wouldn't get. I've been dreaming of doing a long term joker related music project for a while so this for me was like seeing a preview of what could be done with my ideas, and I walked out of the theater feeling genuinely shell shocked. I am now extremely self conscious about wearing my joker love on my heart because I don't want people to ever associate joker or us fans with these films ever again, I can only hope we can get better joker stuff in the future after we memory wipe this nightmare like game of thrones...

Some 'life' advice - never concern yourself with what others think of you. Or anything, really. It's really pointless , because you're not going to change the opinions of those people. Todd Phillips would have been a made man as a director if all he did was deliver even a halfway decent to pretty good Joker sequel. Then he could left and been spoken of in the same ranks as Christopher Nolan. But because the 'wrong' fans liked his work, he dialed up a turd in response, and now the dude will be lucky to get a straight to streaming comedy about fart jokes and cancel culture. He's finished.

"He was a good enough sort of cretur, and hadn’t no harm in him, and was just a genius, as the papers said, which wasn’t his fault. We can’t all be sound: we’ve got to be the way we’re made. As near as I can make out, geniuses think they know it all, and so they won’t take people’s advice, but always go their own way, which makes everybody forsake them and despise them, and that is perfectly natural. If they was humbler, and listened and tried to learn, it would be better for them." - Mark Twain, "Tom Sawyer Abroad"

Now the blame game begins. Why? Just like I said on the video I did on my channel; lawsuits! The paying customer could be getting their money back which means they get nothing. A complete loss.

When I saw this movie last Saturday, I kept thinking to myself, "This is horrible. This feels like Todd Phillips didn't even wanna make this"...😅 I wanted to like this movie, but it basically did everything wrong. Wish I saw Transformers ONE a 3rd time instead 🤣

Well, that's what happens for having a good script with forced famous DC characters on it. It's worse when you read that Phillips wanted to destroy the praise of the first film because of incels rooting for the bad guy. Nothing makes sense with this film.

Hate to break it to yo9u but terminator was ripped off from several Harlan Ellison stories, he sued and they had to acknowledge his works at the end of terminator 1 which is why that credit exists.

Well to be fair to Todd Phillips, it seems like a lot of movie critics are bought and paid for these days i.e. The Acolyte.

I find no use in blame, actions matter, blame is pointing at failed actions, which is then made failing harder. I'd do the 'what's that saying about "X"' thing, but I don't want to this time. "Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Y'know 🤔 I might respect it if he'd had the conviction to blow a tonne of cash on making a Broadway show

‘This is the last video I’ll ever make on Joker 2’ Oh thank god! We will hold you to it! Most channels only did one video, and that was too many. Maybe we can finally put this national nightmare behind us.

Phillips had major creative control and final cut -- rare in a big budget film like this. And created a big disaster, reminiscent of the 1970s-early eighties, where hot directors were given virtual free rein: Heaven's Gate, New York, New York, One From the Heart, Sorcerer, etc. etc. Big swings, big hits or big misses.

When I heard this was a musical, I thought, then you should have put it on Broadway like mean girls. Spiderman turn off the dark was on broadway, but this stuff does make it there sometimes.

I just can't believe Todd Philips made both Joker 1 *and* Joker 2... I mean the attitude behind the two films is so radically different, like they were made by completely different people.

Honestly this wouldn’t be as bad if he didn’t use Jokers or any DC charcters name to create hype for his own film. You can’t call something trash but try to use it’s legacy to boost your own.
