Once again Don, we really get to better know some very interesting drivers. McKenna certainly is a well spoken lady. She represents herself, her sponsors, and the sport in fine fashion. I'm glad you got a chance to talk to Daison. I'm not sure I've ever seen an interview with him before now. Two years ago at the Eldora 4-Crown, I sat next to Daison's mother up in Turn 3. At the time, he was racing a midget. Gio.....what can you say. Another motivated young driver. Son of famous drag racer Gary Scelzi. And brother of sprint car racer Dominic. And I liked getting to know Devon Borden. That American flag sure stands out on his car rear bumper! Finally, so glad Bill Balog made it through his crash in ok shape. His was a bad crash for sure. Thanks for helping us learn about the drivers who make the sport what it is.

More great interviews and film footage with the H.M.M. ! Sprint Car engines will not be replaced with electric motors, just the dangers with the battery's and the weight makes them probably a no go.

Another nice series of pit conversations. You and Daison Pursley talked about the differences in racing winged and non-winged sprint cars -- I'd like to hear an extended conversation with Daison or someone else who's spent time in both kinds of cars. On a number of occasions, I've Googled a driver's name after one of your conversations to learn even more about them. Your conversation with McKenna Haase was very interesting. Anyone who'd like to learn more about how she acquired the Interstate sponsorship should go to her website and follow the link to the story.

Thanks for all you do to support the racers and to inform us of who they are. I went last year to the Million to Win and I came away feeling they sold me the sizzle not the steak. I doubt I ever go back but don't mind watching the highlights after the fact. Just the bang for the buck isn't there for me and the racers weren't all that friendly when you saw them in the pits. I better not include Rico in that group because he seemed to honestly care about the fans.
@HistoryMysteryMan5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your support Joe. If I could get away with it, I'd just do the grassroots/smaller teams stories. They seem to appreciate the coverage more...and are more grateful. Getting folks to watch is another challenge. In terms of "not so friendly" man I could tell you some stories! HMM

@@HistoryMysteryMan Thanks for your kind words. I really enjoyed your video on Trey Osborne and that should win a Grammy it is fantastic! Keep up the good work and we are here to support you! Cheers!
Another jam packed video! Eldora is definitely a balls to the wall track! Nice to see that some drivers at least (and not just WoO) are able to make a living racing and also nice to see large national companies like Interstate, Hy-Vee and Anderson's sponsoring sprint cars. instead of just local sponsors which seem to be the norm nowadays in short track racing of all types. So I guess in a round-about way I'm answering your question. I think sprint car racing will be around for a long time to come and overall will be pretty healthy. Sprint car racing and other grassroots racing are a welcome alternative to the political correctness and lack of driver accessibility in big-time racing. Although IndyCar drivers are still relatively accessible. Some great young talent in your interviews and what's more impressive is that at least for the most part, they all have had to work hard to get where they are. I've seen Gio Scelzi and his brother's names in sprint car results for years, but I think this is the first time I seen an interview with Gio. I remember his dad driving the Winston top fuel dragster back in the day. Cool to hear from the fans as well.
@HistoryMysteryMan5 ай бұрын
Thanks again, Gregg. If I could get the views, I'd love to do more grassroots, small-team stories. I'm also willing to travel for the right/best stories too. I'm sort of in a lull for what to do next; your ideas are always welcome! HMM

@HistoryMysteryMan other than the James Hylton merories/ tribute interviews I mentioned yesterday and Capt. Darrell's take on the Michipicoten and hopefully the Marine Sulphur Queen disappearance that we also discussed awhile back (guessing these 2 would be fall/ winter videos), I was able to come up with a couple other ideas while I was getting dusty and tanned on my lawn tractor. Idea #1 is more ship tours. A working lake freighter would be ideal or if that's not possible more museum ships like you did with the Schoonmaker. I do see tours of lake freighters on other channels, so I guess it is possible to get invited aboard. The second idea for a video or videos is racing related and comes to me from my many visits to the Toronto Indy. I know like me you are more of a short track guy, but the young guys and gals that race in the Indycar support series' the USF2000 and the USF Pro 2000 series are great. Most of them are very friendly and love to chat about just about anything. (for example my Matheus Leist/ A.J. Foyt Racing t-shirt from several years ago was a great conversation starter for many drivers) And unlike higher classes of racing they appreciate their fans and I suspect most would love the attention your videos would bring to them and their racing efforts. I'm not sure it would generate a massive number of views but letting them tell their stories and giving them some much needed publicity would be great. There is a test for both series at IRP on September 13th, maybe you could go to that and chat up a few drivers or even go to one of the race shops and talk to the drivers and other key players on the team.

ugg I was even looking for you and didn't find you don, thought maybe you cam to the weekend shows, but you were at the jackpot. it was a really nice day though not real hot or muggy, not too windy, better then the million which dried the track out soo fast last year and the track held up better in fact while walking out and around the track the cushion at the top still had water in it and compressed when kicked or stepped in, wonder why tyler courtney had to change a tire early on, and wonder why kyle larson lost power or pulled off, congrads to david gravel though hes fast many times holds several track records finnaly won it, got everyone but kyle I think autograph wise the crew would not let me ask for autograph when he was getting ready and here after I put my book in my car at the introductions I stood next to larson for five minutes even talked a little asking him how many laps the a main was going to be stupid me, turns out though I asked brad sweet why they killed the allstar name being the oldest and he said they just bought the assets and had they not it was likely stewart was going to pull the plug on the allstar circut of champions, and that is straight from the horses mouth, though I hope high limit brings it back one day, honored though that local to my area zeb wise from northern indiana was final champion and got to see the last few laps duel at the 4 crowns last year its one of those right place right time being there things, just like my video of a anime dub english voice actor I got in 2012 with his girlfriend dressed as his famed character and he went under the table and did a line from the dragonball z character he did while she lip synched the line, just happened to be there and it was only one of a few times he did it as the costume was hard for her to keep on all day so it was not done often, now he is gone from lung cancer 2 years ago and the video went viral for a time even though its not a good video and it was on a 5 megapixle camera and hard to hear its what I had to record with. I also got it filmed better this year the a main that is but being at the richest paying dirt race all time was one of those things even though the track was rough and dry and accedents a plenty, cant belive you asked about politics though, but I did too wanting to make sure kyle larson wasn't some woke dude from cali, while talking at kokomo with his wife it dont seem he is too buissy racing, and logan sevey too, hes no woke dude just a guy that want to race, and cali while has nice weather and its actually quite conservative in the north half he agreeed is a real can of worms politically, and the racing scene is not the same as used to be. though I thought miss haase was from indiana, origionally but I guess not she is pretty and kind though, and I can say for sure the one to really talk to and is a force of nature is tannor and carly holmes, he is such a presance and has that voice and larger then life presance, carly is a little quieter but she is learning car set up quite well
@HistoryMysteryMan5 ай бұрын
Thanks, sir. Personally, I don't think I really asked about politics. I asked if they were hopeful for America's future or concerned. Valid question. Although I do believe it's perfectly acceptable to ask about politics...don't know why it's such a big deal. Fortunately, race fans, by in large, are a very patriotic crowd, which is super cool. I think I put over 10 miles on my feet that day at Eldora; it was a long ride home. Thanks again...HMM
