St. Nicolas and Black Pete, have nothing to do with Christmas. It is actually a pagan holiday that is celebrated all over Europe in different forms. A similar celebration is the celebration of Krampus in, if I'm not mistaken Austria. Anyway, the point being, it's been around for centuries and has nothing to do with either Christmas or Racism. But I guess a joke doesn't have to be factual. It just needs to be funny. I'm sure plenty of people thought it was.
@eastvandb3 ай бұрын
Well, Christmas is always an adaptation of pagan solstice rituals, but sorry, you're wrong. St. Nicholas and Schwartze Pete are the Dutch version of Xmas.
@RMSNOMORLIMA3 ай бұрын
@@eastvandb they are absolutely not. Christmas is celebrated seperately in the Netherlands. Sinterklaas as it is called in the Netherlands has nothing to do with Christmas. Tha fact that Christmas has nothing to do with Christ is a separate discussion.
@eastvandb3 ай бұрын
@@RMSNOMORLIMA The exchange of Christmas gifts on Christmas is a very recent innovation. Sinterklaas was the festival where gifts were given. And he is the equivalent of Santa Claus in North America (if not the actual inspiration). Krampus is wildly different. He's not a Saint, fo one thing.

@TrevorCrook-c1s8 ай бұрын
@@razenburn There is no apartheid in the UK as far as I know . So though there may be individual acts of racism which are unavoidable It is not a racist state . Black people have the exact same rights as whites. Not being “ weird “ at all just logical You are alleging the UK is a racist state which it clearly isn’t That is not to ignore the countries colonial and racist past of course. Though Britain was not alone when it came to colonialism and empire

@@TrevorCrook-c1s "Hummm. Known to police at such a young age." --- Think about it like sports. Both teams (Team A and Team B) may have the same "rights," but it is up to the referee to arbitrate. So, if the referee identifies more with Team A, then it is reasonable to believe that the referee may either be (1) favorable to towards Team A or (2) punish Team A because It doesn't want people to know that he secretly roots for Team A. --- It doesn't matter where you live in this World, the majority group will always have a privilege that the minority group is not going to have. Even in countries that are vastly homogeneous in physical appearance, if one sub-culture is in power, then they will often bring up other people from that sub-culture over people who are "outsiders." For example, India had a long history of the caste system. --- I think people who deny this dynamic exists in human populations are unreasonable.

@niagara60157 ай бұрын
So because the lady is not clapping she is a racist? Why would a racist buy tickets to go watch an African Comedian and support his work? What if English is not her 1st language and there is a language barrier and did not u derstand some of his jokes? Or, perhaps she enjoys comedy but also has some sort of hearing disability and did not hear all he said? Perhaps she is an introvert? You don't know what that lady is thinking or feeling, you are projecting onto her. It must be a great source of unhappiness to live your live looking at the world through a race lens.
