My favorite form of meditation is watching British people try our BBQ, Chick-fa-la, and Whataburger. I do wish they would start discovering the hole in the wall strip mall Tex-Mex places… I would hit full zen level at that point.

American carnival food in general is very like this and it’s just unreal. It’s both the most delicious food, but also makes you feel like you need to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist afterwards.

LOLOL Here in Dallas we have the Texas State Fair. We have Fletcher's Corn Dogs which are an institution and ONLY available at the Fair.

Texas is a total culture shock... even for Americans. I moved to Dallas from NY 34 years ago... I relived the shock I felt through you both in this video 😂. Tbh... I've never fully gotten used to it. Texas really should be it's own country

I totally agree! I am also an NYer. I lived near Dallas for 18 months and gained 20 lbs. I still miss the food.

In Texas I don't think there is anything we won't deep fry. Also, funnel cakes are an ICONIC fair food. You guys missed out big time.

As a nanny, I laughed so hard when they said “I have to do this when I’m brushing my children’s teeth”😂😂 kids put up a fight when it comes to that and you really do sometimes😅

Pretty sure it was the calf that was traumatized. Honestly this was a complete disconnect from animals, really devolved and mindless imo. What's so fun about terrifying animals and having fun at their expense?

@@nullakjg767 Sorry I don't understand why you're trying to justify this blatant stupidity. Animals are very sensitive and have feelings, this is not an intelligent way to treat them. Also, I have absolutely no doubt these animals are not in sanctuary's. They are being treated like they're objects and used for entertainment so next they will probably end up being chopped into pieces for their flesh. Animals aren't products but it takes a lot of brainwashing for people to justify treating them like they are.

@@prankgirl9112 It seems to be a very American thing. I was born and raised in the US (but Asian) and half of my friends could go days without food when traveling. They would buy McD and stuff them in their bag and eat while going from place to place. I, on the other hand, mostly travel for food.

As a Houstonian, I’m so glad y’all got to experience this! The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is an institution around here and has provided literal millions of dollars in scholarships to students throughout the years. Winner winner everything fried dinner. 😄

@@anusree2632 This is normal every day cattle work in Texas, or at least it used to be before modern techniques, the rodeo just shows the public what it is like and makes it competitive. For the most part, ranchers treat their livestock better than their wife.

You must go! A lot of small towns also have rodeos as well. The XIT Rodeo and Reunion in Dalhart has been going on for probably 100 years. First weekend of August every year. Not on the scale of Houston of course, bug pure rodeo fun. A free bbq and watermelon feed. A rodeo parade. Lots of fun and a slice of Panhandle culture!

As a fellow brit now here in Houston, I highly recommend you come here the weekend before the rodeo, to experience the BBQ cook off. I also hope in part 2 you went into the stadium for the main events 🤞

I see it as an everyday thing you see or do in your life can be dull or boring but it could be a new experience to another. Which is why I kinda try to appreciate what is around me but sadly debt, bills, life changes, stress, depression, etc. all get in the way of that. Negativity aside, I appreciate this country but sometimes I really would love to experience another persons city, state and country (: Sometimes we just need to make the most of it.

@@marilynalvarez9951 same 😂 it’s not something I’m used to seeing either being from LA lol but then again, people put their kids in things like wrestling and gymnastics, etc at a young age where they also can fall and get hurt. Or even just playing on a playground. So idk it’s really not that bad when you think about it, but it definitely is so different for me to watch 😂 my anxiety was so high hahaha

Also what y'all are missing is these kids grow up raising these animals in high school there's a program for students who want to be vets, farmers etc to raise livestock larger animals are auctioned off at the rodeo and ones tht compete earn scholarships. I grew up going to the rodeo never seen one kid or one sheep injured. Believe me these kids know what they are doing they grow up riding horses these are not city kids. In Texas we just rough around the edges and don't mind getting bruises and little dirty.

I’ve lived in Texas since I was 6. I live in a tiny town where Houston isn’t to far. The rodeo is a statewide affair where everyone comes together. I did FFA where my animal was a Cow. The amount of work that goes into it is extremely exhausting. Then it’s brought to the rodeo for sale to be slaughtered. The whole rodeo is a culture in itself. We have the kids events & livestock sells & horse events & bull events & the concert . I hope y’all had fun ❤

I was born and raised in south texas, it made me laugh so hard seeing you guys being HORRIFIED at the children riding the sheep. I wanted to do it so badly as a kid, and now as an adult, my son really wants to do it LOL. Just part of our culture I suppose

I’ve never heard of a kid getting hurt on sheep. It’s kind of a rite of passage. Not all kids do it. Only the ones that want to. They are kids, so some cry. They just rode an animal their size, so it’s scary. Scary isn’t always bad.

I love when people get introduced to Mutton Busting. They used to do it before the show in front of the entire drunk crowd, and it's honestly the highlight of each rodeo night.

Last time I was there they did it before the rodeo started. They fence off a tiny part of the stadium, and the bull fighters (rodeo clowns) help. They also started a daytime booth out in the livestock show area where kids can join in over a certain age.

They still do mutton bustin during the rodeo, in NRG. They take the winners from this event and have them move on to the big show.

As a native Houstonian, I died watching this one too! 🤣😂🤣😂 I thought the Whataburger one was hilarious…. Oh Lawd! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Y’all didn’t even watch the actual rodeo though! Y’all would’ve loved it; they don’t just ride horses, they ride actual bulls that are bucking & spinning. They have to stay on for 8 seconds, but not many do. I’m so happy y’all had so much fun! Rodeo season is the best! I’ve been to too many to count, but it’s a blast every time! 🤠🤠 Texas is absolutely THE BEST! 🤘♥️

@@twotwogardenst Lol!!!! They’ve been to the livestock show & rodeo fair, they just didn’t make it to the rodeo. At night, there’s an actual rodeo that lasts about an hour, a little longer actually, there are a bunch of different categories… Then, there is a huge concert immediately following the rodeo. It’s called the biggest rodeo in the world for a reason! 😉🤠

I have a British friend that lives here In Brooklyn NY, newly married to a friend of mine, last summer made their way to Texas on a trip, laughed about how everything was fried and how easy it was to shoot guns. They are currently on another trip back down there..apparently the British really like the south.

@@BravoSeven South of the Mason Dixon line and from the Annexation of that Mexican American War, you'd be quite surprised how many other Americans call its the south, hell my moms was a firefighter in Central Florida, people always claimed "its not the south" duew to conquistadors and what not.. plenty of racism and a slave trading past..it's the south big homie, get used to it.

@@AnthonyPosi I agree about Texas. But I live in a South Florida and we say “ the farther south you go the more North you get” our line is not Mason-Dixon but the I 4 corridor from Tampa to Orlando. The pan handle is Alabama, east of that is Georgia - central Florida is more southern than northern but I assure you Miami is ABSOLUTELY NOT. It’s more than 70% Latin

As a city girl in the US, even I find it somewhat normal to watch country kids try to ride a lamb like a wild bull. I watch a lot of vet shows and county fairs, like this huge one in TX are the highlight of a lot of kids hard work all year prepping for the fair. It’s a way of life for them!

I'm a farm kid still at heart and I still judge and show livestock, it's a good activity to do with family. I used to work hours with my dad to get our market hogs, lambs and meat rabbits ready for the show.

I stumbled upon this today and I want to thank you! I moved away from Houston a couple years ago (after living there 18 years). This video took me home and I loved every minute of it. I didn't even know how much I missed it (Houston). Funny thing about Rodeo is that as big as it is, I always ran into friends and coworkers each time I went. Believe it or not, this is a little bit of small-town America. :)

I love this. I grew up in a cattle town and rodeos are an annual event that is normal (and slightly repetitive after 19 years of them) so it is great to see someone elses' perspective on our traditions. Thanks yall for the great videos and the laughter!

I live in the Texas panhandle (Amarillo) and every year we have a rodeo @ the XIT Ranch near Dalhart. They have the worlds largest free barbecue (approx 10,000 lbs of brisket cooked in ground pits (buried) and served with all the sides. Its a huge event every year.

I have two great grandsons who rodeo. They started in mutton busting at about 2 or 3. They are 9 and 10 now and have settled into team roping and ribbon roping.

Fort Worth here and glad you guys got to experience the stock show and rodeo. Fried alligator tail is good, funnel cakes are so good, and mutton bustin is like youth soccer around here. These are tough kids, the ropers-riders-bronc busters-bull riders-and rodeo clowns are some of the hardest working people (salt of the earth good people) you will meet. Glad you guys enjoyed your experience!

These things that they're eating and doing don't seem extraordinary, however most of the things they are eating and doing at this "rodeo" are unlike any rodeo I've been to. Actually most of the stuff I've never had nor seen in 50+ years of living in Texas, but then again, I've never been to the state fair nor the Houston rodeo.

You're more spot on than you know when you say it's better than Coachella. A lot of the pro rodeos (because yes, it's a professional sport some people make a career from) in the major cities (at least the ones in Texas) end the night with a concert that's included in the cost of your ticket to the rodeo events. I've seen some huge name acts after hours of rodeo fun, all from $30 seats.
