The guards can develop just about anybody into a star level pitcher, but when it comes to power hitters we swing and miss on just about every way you can bring them in. If we pay them, they forget how to hit (Josh bell, Mike Zunino), we give up on power hitting minor leaguers after 20 ABs and injuries (Nolan, Benson, Yandy Diaz) or just don't pay the guys we have (thanks dolan). false....The Dolans are some of the richest MLB owners AND THE CHEAPEST. For example, they made 80 million when they sold off their cable channel Sportstime Ohio to Fox. Did that money go back to the team? No. They are cheap bums in many spots where they could spend a little more to win in a weak division, What you got here are owners who are stuck on a program to be cheap on purpose, no matter what happens each year. And that means, they will always have to luck into making it far each year. They are doing this on purpose. IT goes to ask th question--why even own a team if youre going to do this sh**?

You could literally do this with any team. Cleveland has won FAR more trades than they’ve lost the last decade. And as far as Jones, Benson and Diaz- -Jones had the highest BABIP in the sport last year. Let’s see who he is when regression rears its head -Benson is still likely nothing more than a platoon OF, similar to Joc Peterson. It was a mistake to choose Brennan over him, however, and I think this is the biggest mistake the FO has made the last decade. -I’ll take Bo Naylor over Diaz 7 days a week. Bo had the highest WAR per PA in all of baseball last season (yup, go check, he sure did).

I understand feeling frustrated that we traded Jones, but Juan Brito is an absolute beast. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s called up by the All-Star break and makes an immediate impact. Watched him play in Akron last season and he’s phenomenal.

It’s an issue with having too much talent at some positions. Brennan’s new swing looks good, Freeman has always been promising, especially now he can play OF. Brito has looked very promising thus far already getting to AAA. Nolan I agree though hurts the most, though thus far he has shown some regression.

Exactly! There is such a disparity between perception and reality. CLE sports fans may be more guilty than any in advancing the myth of how bad the front office is. I'm always seeing on CLE sites people talk of how bad the franchise is, then you look and see they've put up winning season after winning season for years.

Amazingly the Guardians are in first place in the AL Central as of this writing with rookie manager Stephen Vogt. And they have highly rated prospect Kyle Manzardo just recalled, who they got from the Rays in exchange for starting pitcher Aaron Civale.

Nice video but most of these players probably wouldn’t have developed had they stayed in Cleveland. Lotta players break out with a change of scenery or to train under a new coaching staff.

This is hilarious because the offense is looking good this year. I will say they pulled the trigger too early on some of them. But Nolan is doing good in Colorado where balls fly. They also have chase DeLauter, manzardo and will be getting Bazzana or Condon. They'll be ok.

*_In the combined previous 10 SEASONS, the Guardians hold the 4TH BEST TEAM RECORD in ALL OF BASEBALL; a few games behind the Astros._* Sure, they have made mistakes --- MLB team management is competitive in the EXTREME --- but, OVERALL, they stacked up VERY WELL compared to the rest of MLB, especially when factoring the REALITIES of their financial restrictions [read: they are NOT in a MEGA-lucrative market]. So, yeah, I/we get your point but I suggest you look at the BIGGER PICTURE.

A month into the season, and the Guardians have one of the best records in baseball. That makes the trades mentioned in this video look like they haven't caused many issues so far other than missing the playoffs last year. We'll see what their record is like in September. Maybe they'll win the division easily. Maybe they'll implode and miss the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Astros have the fourth worst record and baseball. Yainer Diaz has a better BA and BABIP so far this season than last season, but his OPS and SLG have both dropped a decent amount. He may or may not reach expectations. Nolan Jones's stats have been pretty bad this season too. He isn't even batting .200, his OPS is under .500, and his BABIP is down by over 140 points to .255. He might not be a good player this year if those trends continue. We'll see what happens, but so far there are signs that both Diaz and Jones could very well have a worse season this year than last year, especially with Jones.

And despite all of this, the Guardians are still primed for a great season and future. Two elite prospects at the top of the system, and the first overall pick. Yes these trades hurt, but you have to remember at the time Oscar Gonzalez was the main piece in a huge playoff run. It looked like Kwan/Straw/Gonzalez was going to be the future and the biggest need would be SS and 1B. Now it’s outfield, but there’s multiple options to fill that hole as well as the current guys are doing a great job.
