i'm mostly unfamiliar with Jon Baptiste but i love how spiritually he hears, feels, and discusses the music. and him describing the Chi-Lites as 11pm party music is a complete bullseye.

Jon Baptiste has pretty basic tastes, but I gotta hand it to him for buying box sets of doo wop, vocal groups, and bakersfield sound..... but life is too damn short for blink 182 and michael jackson

Always time to absorb the singular genius of Michael Jackson! C'mon now! I agree with ya about Blink 182, though. The Blink 182 pick messed with my head!
@celestialnubian Жыл бұрын
Oh, you're one of those people. I wouldn't hate on Blink 182 being a pop punk kid from that time but nobody has the right to look down on any of MJ's 80s run.

McCartney, maybe D'angelo (it should be pronounce "dangelo" not D-Angelo), Mills Bros, the compilation of R&B (the original, not that sh¨t of today's charts), Anhony, Louis Armstrong. I can live without the other's music. For real, I expected very much of Jon Batiste. I mean a lot more in taste for music. I could have bet hard for more jazz and at least an album by Prince. Such a disappointment!
@mella9128 Жыл бұрын
@oskarobit in what world is "dangelo" the pronunciation for D'Angelo? Jon Batiste did that the right way. But the pics he chose are weak.
@oskarobit Жыл бұрын
@@mella9128 Not worlds, languages. "Angelo" sounds Italian to me (angel). "De Angelo" equals D'Angelo. It works as the Scottish Mac or the Irish O'. Search in YT : how to pronounce D'Angelo Italian. I'm not completely sure, but I think in British English is pronounced as I said.
@mella9128 Жыл бұрын
@@oskarobit I've seen a lot of interviews, musicians talking about him, some with himself, there is no doubt about the issue, believe me, anyway, he's a great musician, his album "Voodoo" is my favorite album
@oskarobit Жыл бұрын
@@mella9128 I don't doubt about it, but was just talking about the pronunciation of the name D'angelo and the strange choices of Jon Baptiste. I mean, my impression that the choices he made sounded weird to me coming from a musician like Jon Baptiste. I feel like he was choosing some kind of "low profile" picks. It's a bit difficult to me to express this feeling as I'm not a native English speaker.
