Did you buy the air hammer bit or just fabricate one from an old chisel?

Check the description. There should be a link in there. I pretty sure I got it from Amazon.

Just hold one of the tools over an existing river and match it up. My boat stays dry.

Do you think placing the epoxy in the gap before pounding/smoothing up the bottom would seal better? Just curious. Have you had the boat out to test for leaks?
@fixthemthings3 жыл бұрын
Yes. It is solid. I probably didn’t have to do the epoxy but I didn’t want it to break free again because the rivet holes were enlarge from breaking before. I pounded but still had a small gap but the rivets eventually closed the gap.

What size rivets did you used. Thanks

Always check the description in my videos. I usually put the link to the items there. Here is where I got the rivets: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040D2PSS/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Why did you use the air hammer and not a rivet gun
@fixthemthings2 жыл бұрын
Rivet gun will leak water through the hole. They are not water tight. The solid rivets are much stronger too.
@treymurphy63982 жыл бұрын
@@fixthemthings Yeah but I thought there's was another style of river that has a closed hole. The rivet gun won't do those?

@@treymurphy6398 Solid rivets are stronger and bind together much tighter. They shouldn’t leak forever if done properly (not saying sealed pop rivets wouldn’t) Pop rivets can corrode from the inside out over time (if they have a steel mandrel) Solid rivets are a more bulletproof system for structural applications! Good luck

I think the question is not about the type of rivets. Rather, the type of air hammer. There is a specilized air hammer just for closed rivets. They say it hits slower so you do not over compress or flatten out rivets. With that said most of us are more likly to have a air hammer and specialized air hammers for solid rivets are harder to come by and not used as much to warrent buying.

Nice jon boat! Subbed! Thanks for the tips.

can you just use a hand hammer and some muscle?
@fixthemthings2 жыл бұрын
Give it a try and let me know how it works out. If it doesn’t work, just drill it out and try again.
