As someone who used to be like that, I know other men can't stand it when they're beaten by someone like him. I deeply admire and respect Jon Cryer. He seems to be genuine in his adorable goofiness and he kept his unique persona through the years. Not an easy feat, given his various failures before Two and a Half Men.

Jon Cryer has really stepped up in a big way since Charlie Sheen's departure. In fact, he has become the break-out star and Ashton Kutcher is more like a supporting actor. Cryer has breathed new life into the character of Alan Harper and his self-assured, alter-ego Jeff Strongman. IMO, this show is better than it ever has been and Chuck Lorre and Jon Cryer deserve all the credit. (The addition of Charlie's lesbian daughter to the show is also a stroke of brilliance.)

He was always good, but the writing was aimed at Sheen's character, now that Sheen's character is gone, there's a definite emptiness, and Cryer beating out all the others proves Cryer can now breathe. I think his awkward acceptance of the Emmy is great acting as well.
