to me this scene is similar, in a way, to the scene with carmela and the psychologist. in Chris's world, it makes perfect sense to mutilate a person if a mob guy is "disrespected". we ,the viewers, are jon and the other girl. we romanticise the mob life, we wanna see movies about them. but what this scene brings across is the idea that these are killers who lack empathy, that put their honour over another person's life

The movies only show the romanticized version of these men’s lives. Even in the movies when they show hits we don’t smell the gunpowder’s or feel the blood spray on our clothes and face or even smell the dead body. Real life will always be darker and more disturbing then what we see in the comfort of our homes on the tv.

Favreau nearly pisses himself while Chris is playing around with the gun but sees hyper violent Gallo as a flawed, tragic figure. Chase had Ralph beat Tracee to death to remind viewers these werent funny, charming men or flawed people but psychopaths. The character can be a murderous cannibal but if he reads and listens to classical music or is a good artist then that must be taken into account before passing judgement. Being on the receiving end of the violence would knock alot of the romantic notions about Gallo right out of his head.

Later, Christopher found out that Jon was using that story in a screenplay and he was, understandably, very upset.

He says later in the episode when he argues with her about Jon Favereau using this story he tells them in this scene, but in a different script/movie. If I remember correctly it was Joey Chippolini or something like that. But its def a character that you never see or hear about again in the show.. The episode was from season 2: D-Girl was the name of the episode
