I don’t believe Kate was a great mother, but I don’t really think this guy was a great father either. He wanted to have fun and party, and when the children got older he wanted to include himself in their lives. He should’ve been there from the jump and he can’t just blame Kate for everything. He literally didn’t even have Colin living with him, he was living with Jon’s ex.

Collin As an 8th, 9th and 10th grader had lived with his dad Jon and Colleen both. Also during his 8th, 9th and 10th grade he and his dad would go to outpatient therapy because he was very traumatized from being sent away and had difficulty coping. Collin was living with Colleen (after she split with his dad) when he was a 17 year old junior in high school. She was very much a mother figure to him and still is. It was something he really needed at the time. As an 18 year old 12th grader he had his own apartment and worked full time. None of this means that Jon was not a good father. The focus was on what worked best for Collin and Collin obviously had a say in it.

If you're just continuously passing on the responsibility to someone else while you do what you want, then no, you are not raising your child. You say it was in his best interest but why wasn't he living with Jon during his outpatient therapy journey, why was his ex-girlfriend a better fit. Jon is just as culpable in bad parenting as Kate, not to mention him being in the tabloids for years partying and doing his thing meanwhile his kids were supposedly suffering under Kate.

@josereyes-fd1qp He was living with Jon during his outpatient therapy. He had outpatient therapy after he got him out of the institution. Collin chose to live with Colleen when he was in 11th grade. Maybe Jon thought allowing Collin to make that choice was in his best interest. He lived with her for 1 year and he was 17 at the time. When Collin was 18 and in 12th grade, he had his own apartment and a full-time job. I see nothing wrong with this

His other children (except Hannah) never asked to live with him. Getting custody was very difficult because he is also dealing with TLC. Fathers rights are more important than a third party business. Strange how nobody talks about how TLC was involved in all this. They even paid for Collin's institutionalization. It also cost Jon over $ 1 million to get custody of Hannah and Collin. I suppose you forgot about court costs and legal fees. Didn't you?

His father once again passed on the responsibility, but you don't want to see that because you dislike Kate. No, not just the "cheating" that he is now claiming never happened, but he was living it up as a bachelor while his children were being taken care of by someone else.

He left his wife with 8 kids. Jon is a dead beat. I never liked Jon. He's a NPC. Kate was no better she was stressed out her head & has narcissist traits. They both are horrible people. So..

He never wanted to leave the kids. He actually left the house because he could no longer deal with cameras and limited privacy. Kate divorced him for that and TLC sued him because he was breaching their contract. The lawsuit was settled out of court. Getting custody or even more visitation was very difficult because he was going up against TLC and Kate both. TLC and Kate both had plenty of money to deal with a lengthy lawsuit in the event he tried to sue for custody of any of their kids. He did try many times (and failed) to get his kids off TV so they could live a private life. He succeeded in getting custody of Hannah and Collin but it cost him over a million dollars. Pennsylvania is not accustomed to having kids working under contract and their laws clearly reflect that. In their divorce TLC had more rights over the kids than their own father. And that is just wrong. It was also TLC that paid for Collin's institutionalization and that is disgusting.

If Jon dared to try to get custody of any of the kids then they would take him to the cleaners in court and they did. It cost Jon over a million dollars to get custody of Hannah and Collin and they WANTED to live with their father. TLC had more rights than Jon with their business contracts. This was no ordinary custody dispute. Jon (for a while) went nuts with his partying but then he toughened up and fought for his kids. He did his best in a very unusual and difficult situation. Jon's biggest mistake was initially agreeing to do a reality show in the first place. If TLC were not involved then this custody dispute would not have dragged on for so many years and so much money. More importantly Collin would have just moved in with his dad rather than being institutionalized first. Yeah TLC paid for that too.
