As a beginner/intermediate amateur MMA "fighter", i know it's weird to criticise a move from the GOAT himself, but i am a bit skeptical about the move in the video from 07:50 to 08:00, how can he manage the vulnerability of his head since his head is up facing the opponent that have two free hands, how can we protect ourselves from a hook or even a flying knee if the opponent succeed to grab our head on time in this situation ? if there is some experts here in the comments, I would appreciate an explanation. Thank you!
@levilyons997510 ай бұрын
This isn't a blind shot, it has a level change in-between and feints prior so he has already established some threat or game to striking upstairs and his head is off the standard line of fire and his closeness would take a lot of power from any shot or avoid them all together ( short punches tend to have power mitigated.) The shot would have to be anticipated before he even attempted the feint in a fight speed scenario. I am also a low level amateur guy so take what I say with a grain of salt but there is a lot of seasoning and spice before the meat and bones of the technique per se. Jon is a generational talent but not a master coach yet so take it in within context. Sometimes vulnerabilities are just calculated risks, you don't want to be defensive 24/7 and vice versa.
